'Be it known that I, SADIE NOVER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the borough of Manhattan, in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hand Bags, of which the following is a specification.

Theinvention has for one of its objects to provide a hand bag having two compartments or pockets, one of which is normally closed and so formedthatits existence and the means of access thereto cannot be readily determined, the purpose being to provide a hand bag having one pocket not readily accessible to a thief upon a surreptitious opening of the hand bag.

The supplemental channel mem-' her 9 is adapted to fit within either one of the main frame members 3201' 4 and to lie in the same plane, thereof. As shown in Fig. 1 the supplemental frame member 9 is connected to the main frame member 4., while in Fig. 4 it is shown as connected to the mainframe memberB. The division wall 8 serves to divide the bag into two pockets 11 and 12, either one of which may be closed by locking the'supplemental frame member 9 toone of the main frame members The supplemental frame member 9 ispro-i vided with a pivoted latch 13 adapted to be operated by a finger piece 14. -When the supplemental frame member-is locked to the main frame member 4 the pocket 12 will be normally closed and the finger piece 14 will be exposed by opening or separating the mainframe member. When the supple mental frame member, 9 is locked to the" main frame member 3' the finger piece 14 will be concealed within the pocket 11, as shown in Fig. 5 of the drawings. The latch -13 is adapted to'be turned up into the channel member 3 or 4 in order to lock the supplemental frame member in position.

The latch 13 swings to lock the supplemental frame to'the main frame members against movement in either direction. If it be desired the supplemental frame may to be operated although it is concea ed within the pocket 11.

It will, of'course, be understood thata suitable carrying strap may be attached to the eyes 17 secured to the main frame. It will also be understood that the two main frame members are secured together in their snap fasteners. 18; and that the two mem rs of the inner pocket 16 are adapted to be secured together by the two snap fasteners 19.

What I claim is:

1. hand bag frame comprising a pair of mam frame members, a supplemental clo-= sure frame member conformmg in contour to the closureframe members and adapted to fit closely in either of said members, and

A hand bagcomprising a pair of main frame members, a main flexible bod-y portion connected to and around the edges of said main frame members, a supplemental closure frame member adapted to fit within either of themain'frame members, a flexible dividing wall orpartition connected to the supplemental frame member and to the main body portion of the bag to divide the said. body portion into two pockets, pivot pins connecting the ends of all of the frame mem bers together whereby they will swing about the same axis, the said supplemental frame member being adapted to be forced through either of the main frame 'members and swung down within the bottom of the bag whereby the dividing wall forms two open pockets, a latch carried by the supplemental frame member and adapted to releasably lock said member to either of the main frame members, and means forreleasably locking 1 together the main frame members.

A hand bag comprising a pair of main frame members, a mainflexible body portion connected to and around the edges of said main frame members, a supplemental closure frame member adapted to fit within one of the main frame members, a flexible dividing wall or partition connected to the supplemental frame member and to the main body portion of the bag to divide the said body portion into two pockets, pivot pins for the ends of the frame members,"the said supplemental frame member being adapted tobe forced through one of the main frame members and swung down within .the bottomof the bag whereby the dividing wall forms two open pockets, a latch carried by the supplemental frame member. and adapted to releasably lock said member to one of the main frame members, and means for're leasably locking together the main frame members. 4

6. A hand bag comprising a pair of-main frame members, a main flexible bodyportion connected to and around the edges of said .125,

main frame members, a supplemental 0103- i ure frame member, a flexible dividing wall or partition connected to the supplemental, frame memberand to the main body portion of the bag to divide the said body portion into two pockets, pivot pins connecting the ends of all of the frame members together whereby they will swing about the same axis; and a latch carried by the supplemental frame member and adapted to releasably lock said member to one of the main frame members, the said latch being concealed by the flexible dividing wall when the supplemental frame member is locked to the main frame member and adapted to be released through the, flexible Wall.

7. A hand bag comprising a pair of main frame members, a main flexible bag portion connected to and around the edges of said main frame members, a supplemental closure frame, a flexible dividing wall or partition connected to the supplemental frame member and to the main body portion of the bag to divide the said body portion into two pockets, pivot pins connecting the ends of all of the said frame members together whereby they will swing about the same axis, a purse comprising a pair of frames pivotally mounted within the supplemental frame and a flexible pouch, and a latch carried by the supplemental frame member'and adapted to releasably lock said member to one of the main frame members, the said latch and the said purse being concealed by the flexible dividing wall when the supplemental frame member is in locked position against the main frame member and the said latch being adapted to be released through the said flexible wall.
