Description

J B. MORROW I DEFLECTOR Filed Jan. 13, 1523 INVENTOR JflMfS 5. #7016901 BY 7 4N ATTORNEY Patented Apr. 15, W24.
JAMES B. MORROW, F OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA.
DEFLEGTOR.
Application filed January 13, 1923.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JAMES B. Monnow, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Deflectors, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improved deflector, particularly applicable to portable oil burning heaters.
The object of my invention is to provide a deflector which will prevent the upward travel of the hot air and compel it to move 5 downwards and to the side, thus heating the cooler air around the stove in the lower part of the room, which is desirable.
Another object of my invention is to provide a deflector which may be readily attached to any standard heater.
Other objects of my invention are to provide a deflector which is simple in construc tion, inexpensive to manufacture and eflicient in operation.
In the drawing in which my invention is illustrated Figure 1 is a side view of my deflector attached to a heater.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on the line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a top plan view of my deflector.
Figure 1 is a sectional view taken on the line i-4: of Fig. 1.
Serial No. 612,548.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates a deflector hood which is preferably conical in shape. A second conical baffie plate 2 is formed near the apex of the hood 1 with its apex pointing downwards. A bracket 3 formed of a resilient metal supports the hood 1 above the stove 4:. The hood 1 is secured at its apex to the bracket 3. Feet 5 and 6 are formed on the lower ends of the bracket 3 and are arcuate in shape so that they may grip the sides ofthe stove t and hold the deflector in place. The feet are held in place by the inward pressure of the bracket 3 which enables the deflector to be placed on any stove desired.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. A deflector comprising a hood, means for mounting said hood above the stove and a conical baflie plate having its apex pointing in'the opposite direction from the apex of the hood, said baffle plate being attached to said hood.
2. A deflector comprising a strap, feet on said strap adapted to grip the sides of a stove, a conical hood secured at its apex to said strap and a baiile cone formed in the apex of said hood, said bafiie cone having its apex pointing in the opposite direction from the apex of the hood.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
JAMES B. MORROW.
