The various features" of novelty which characterize my invention are pointed out 5 with particularity in the claims annexed "to, and forminga part. of this "specification.
' For a better understanding of the invention however, the advantages possessed by it and .specific' objects attained with its use, reference should be hadfto the accompanying llSQOf my present invention in an open fire tunnel kiln especially devised for drying andburning brick and comprising a drying chamber B in alignment with, and forming a direct extension of the kiln proper. In the normal intended operation of'the apparatus disclosed, a portion only of the heated air received-by the pipes E through the ports Chis withdrawn from the pipes by I the'blowers F, and utilized in supporting combustion in the burner chambers G. The carborundum burner nozzles H form effectiveand durable means for giving the desired velocity and direction to the I burning jets entering the kiln chamber through them. The provisions described for withdrawing air fromthe cooling zone section of the kiln and delivering it to the' combustion-chambers G' insures an adequate supply of highly heated air to the combus tion' chambers without subjecting the air moving blowers or fans F to the injurious action of the'most highly heated air withdrawn from the entrance end of the cooling zone section by the downcom'er passages C -While in accordance-with the provisions of the statutes, I have illustrated and described the best form of my invention now known to me, it wil1 be apparent to those skilled in the art that changes may be made -inthe form of theapparatus disclosed without departing from the spirit of my invenf of Aug.
