Application mednecemberiz, i921.` semi No. 521,742.
To all wltomt may cof/wem:
Be it knownthat I, THADDEUs S. WA1T,a citizen of the United States, residing at Sturgis, county of St.` Joseph, State of Michigan, have. invented` certain newv and useful Improvements in Curtain Fixtures,
of which the following is a specification.
Thisinvention relates to improvements in curtain fixtures@ The main object of this invention is to` 4 further object is to provide an improved curtain rod and/supporting bracket lwhich does not necessitate the mounting of the` bracket in a.predeterminedrelation to the rod, that is, the bracket` may be reversed without effecting the engagement of the rod therewith. 'g
Further objects, and objects pertaining to details and economies of construction and operation will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of myinvention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which:
Fig. I is an end view of a curtain fixture embodying the features of my invention.
Fig. II is a fragmentary plan view of the structure shown in Fig. I.
Fig. III is an enlarged detail section on a line corresponding to line 3-3 of Fig. I.
Fig. IV is an enlarged detail vertical sec-k tion on `a line corresponding to line 4 4 of Fig. I.
Fig. V is a detail vertical section on a line corresponding to line 5-5 of Fig. I.
Fig. VI is a plan view of the bracket shown in the flat.
In the drawing the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines and similar numerals of reference refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawing, the curtain rod 1 is provided with an in-turned arm 2 adapted to be engaged with the bracket.
`This frod is of channel cross-section having in-turnededges In practice these rods are formed upfofsheet metal, the same being relatively thin.l Nd-attempt is made in the `accompanying drawing to show the proper gauge. l
l I provide angled brackets 1 which are of sheet metal stampings comprising base portions 5perforated at G to receive the at'- ftaching screws. The arms 'Z'l project from the base plates being disposed at rightangles thereto. :These arms have longitudinal jslots 8 extending fromtheir outer ends forming a -pair lof fingers `9. These fingers are The, ends of .the fingers frictionallyA lengage the edges l,ofthe clian1iel,.when the curtain rod istelescopedthereon@r is to providevfor the shellac which is loosened wi'th the rod member.
notched. at 10. adjacentjtheir` outer ends. l
One rof the main; advantagesiof; the notches 7 aredipped in shel'lacv as a finislrand when forced upon the bracket arms the shellac is loosened. The notches, however, permit it to fall away from the edges of the bracket fingers.
The slots are provided with enlargements 11 near the inner ends thereof, the enlargements providing keepers for the spring members 12 formed in the body of the rod members. The rod members have longitudinal slots 13 spaced to provide the spring tongues 14 which are struck inwardly to provide central humps or engaging portions 12. When the rod member is slipped upon the arm these parts l2 snap into the keepers thereby effectively retaining the parts in assembled relation. The spring lingers being in frictional engagement with the sides of the channel the rod members are supported quite rigidly and without sagging.
My improved fixture is very simple and economical to produce and is very convenienty to mount, especially in the manner of attaching the brackets as theyv may be jacent the inner end thereof, and a Curtain,
