Description

Dec 11, 1923.
D. M. SARKISIAN CURTAIN HOLDER Filed May 2, 1921 Patented Dec. 11, 1923.
DICKRAN M. SABKISIAN, OF FOREST HILLS, NEW YORK.
CURTAIN HOLDER.
Application filed May 2,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that DIOKRAN M. SAnKIsrAN, a citizen of the United States and resident of Forest Hills, county of and State of New York, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to means for sup porting curtains, etc, and the object of my invention is to provide a curtain holder that can be made at low cost and means for preventing the rod portion from being accidently unhooked or displaced from the hook portions of the holder.
Referring to the drawings which form a art of this specification,
ig. 1 is a plan view illustrating the general form of my improved curtain holder attached to a window casing, the rods being shown in sections to save space in the drawings, the parts being shown practically the full size as constructed for domestic use;
Fig. 2 is a side view illustrating the hook with the end of the rod in position thereon;
Fig. 3 is a side view of the rod as it appears when tilted upward showing the rod held by the hook notch;
Fig. 4 is a view of the hook blank before the sides are turned inward to position the hooks as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the end of one of the rod portions.
A indicates a window casing and A the window. BB respectively indicate the hook plates which support the curtain rods C-C respectively. The hooks B-B respectively are formed integral with the body portion B of the plate and a notch D is formed at the base of each hook'thus forming a shoulder E. Each rod 0 is preferably made of sheet metal formed with arch shaped upper and lower edge portions CC respectively as illustrated in Figure 5, and slots FF respectively are formed at each end through which a hook extends to support the rod.
The sheet metal rod is made of thin material and therefore the rod is stiffened and strengthened by the arched edge construction. The distance between the inner face 1921. Serial Ito/466,332.
of each hook B and the exposed surface of the body portion B is slightly greater than the length of the end portion of the rod measured from the end to the slot F so that the rods may be placed in position on the supporting therefrom but if the rod is tilted upward on the hooks the lower side of the rod enters the notch D and rests under the shoulder E while the upper end swings over and abuts the face of the body portion B as illustrated in Fig. 3 thus locking the rod in its tilted position and preventing it from being lifted from thesupporting hooks.
It will be seen that two rods are provided so that an inner and outer curtain may be supported if required. The body portion.
B may be secured to the window casing by screws G-G or in any other suitable manner.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new,
1. A curtain holder comprising a hook having a shoulder formed therein and a rod having a portion thereof normally out of engagement with said shoulder but adapted to engage said shoulder when the rod is tiltelzid to prevent its displacementfrom the hoo having a hook connected thereto provided with a shoulder, and a rod adapted to be supported on said hook and having a por- 2. A curtain holder comprising a platehooks easily and easily removed tlon normally out of engagement with said shoulder but adapted to when the rod is tilted to ment from the hook.
3.'A curtain holder comprising a plate having ahook formed integral therewith and providedwith a notchthe upper side of which presents a shoulder and a rod supported on said hook and having a portion adapted to enter said notch and engage said shoulder when the rodistilted to prevent its displacement fromthe hook.
Signed at'New- York city, in the county engage said shoulder prevent its displaceof New York and State of New York, this day of April, 1921.
DICKRAN M. SARKISIAN.
