Application filed April 3,
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that l, Amer: Monoims'rsnn, a citizen of the United States; residing at New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Bloomers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to bloomers, an object of the invention being to providean improved garment of this kind comprising a body portion terminating in' an elastic waist band and leg portions terminating in elastic knee bands. the present improvement embodying features adapted to enable the put on or removed quickly present improvement the bloomers will be more durable and lasting in use, and more convenient to the user. than garments of this kind heretofore made. i
A further object of this invention is to proi'ide improved bloomers comprising a body portion having an. adjustable elastic lit at the waist and also comprising leg membershaving each an elastic fit adjacent to the knee, and wherein the bloomers may be removed and put'on without having to pull them over the feet and legs. which has been difficult to accomplish due to the continuous tight fitting elastic bands at the waist and knees, this resulting after continued use in stretching out the elastic thereby necessitating the renewal or replacement thereof.
A further object of this invention is to provide an improved pair of bloomers having an opening at the outer side thereof extending from the top to the bottomedge thereof, the free edges being releasably connected together so as to permit the garment to be put on and removed with great ease and convenience, the bloomers also having a releasable elastic fit at the waist and also adjacent to the knee. 7
Other objects of this invention will appear in the following description and appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a partof this specification wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts in the several views and wherein Fig. 1 is a front view illustrating a present form of my invention; Fig. 2 is a side elevation and Fig. 3 is a fragmentary enlarged view illustrating the waist band.
Before explaining in detail the present portions 11 and 12 are 1923. Serial N0. 629,541.
improvement and mode of operation thereof, I desire to have it understood that the invention is not limited to the details of construction and arrangement of parts which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. since the invention is capable of other embodiments, and that the phraseology which I employ is for the purpose of description and not of limitation.
in the drawings I have illustrated a pres-' ent preferred form of my invention audit will be seen that the pair of bloomers comprise a front portion A, and a rear portion or member ll, the two members being separable throughout the outer sides thereof and adapted to be releasably joined together along these opposite sides in order to form a complete pair of bloomers. The front member A comprises a pair of panels 9 and 11 stitched together at 9 ,and the rear member B also comprises a pair of complemental panels 10 and 12 stitched-together in like manner, the panels or leg portions 9 and IQ being stitched together at 50 and the portions 11 and 12 stitched together at 51. It will be seen that the sides 9 andlO, and sides 11 and 12, may be joinedtogether along the outer sides of the garment to form the bloomer legs and also tovconnect the garment about the waist. and rear members A and B may be spread out lengthwise and flatwise so as to facilitate-ironing the garment.
It will be seen that the portions 9 and '10 are separated by means of a vertical opening 13 at the outer side thereof, and the likewise separated bymeans of an opening let at the opposite side of the garment. The opening 13 is closed by means of a 'irojecting flap or tab 15 extending from the edge of the rear panel 10, this flap overlapping the opposed edge of the panel 9 and being releasably connected thereto by means of suitable fastening devices 16, which may be in the form of snap fasteners. Adjacent to the flap 15is a similar flap or tab 17 extending from-the free edge ofthe panel 9 but in the opposite-direction, so as to overlap the panel 10. This flap 17 is releasably connected to the rear panel by suitable fastening devices 18, which also may be in the form of snap fasteners.--
The opening 14 at the opposite sideof the bloomers is closed in substantially the same manner, the rear panel 12 having a projecting flap 19 foldable over upon the front The front s the garment is gathered at the lower portion ally close the openings 13 and 14 and panel 11 and detachably connected thereto by means'of fastening devices 20. The front panel 11 also has a projectingflap 21adapted to fold over the edge of the rear panel 12 and terminate in a tubular hem having an' elastic inserted therein, forming an elastic band 23. The free ends of the elastic knee band 23 may be detachably connected together-at the opening 18 by means of suit able fastening devices 24 and 25, in the present instance, these comprising a hookand eye fastener. The opposite'leg member of thereof and likewise terminatesin an elastic knee band 26, the free ends thereof being detachably connected together by means of fastening devices 27 and 28. \Vhen the garment is put on the elastic bands; 23 and 26 may be readily hooked around the legs and will resiliently embrace the legs so as to assist in supporting the garment.
The front and rear portions of the bloomers terminate at the upper edges thereof in an elastic waist band.
Itis to be understoodthat by describing in detail herein any particular form, structure, or arrangement, it is not intended to limit the invention beyond the terms of the several claims or the requirements of the prior art. 7 .7
