To all whom it may concern:
- Be it known that I, CHARLES (1.. TozIER,
' a. citizen of the United States, residing at clearly illustrated H'entham, in the county of Norfolk and State of lifassachusetts, haveinvented-certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in stoves, and it has for its objects among others to provide an improved hot air heater comprising a combustion or fuel chamber and a chamber independent thereof and containing a drum, provision being made for the passage of the products of combustion through the drum and for the admission of air into the chamber surrounding the drum, the hot air being conducted to any desired point through suitable piping. The combustion chamber may be utilized for cooking purposes. The stove,
as a whole is portable, can be manufactured at small cost and in use will be found most economical, and to give excellent results.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will hereinafter appear and the novel features thereof will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
The invention, in its preferred form, is in the accompanying drawing, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification, and in which Figure l is a side elevation, with a portion broken away and parts in section.
Figure 2 is a substantially central vertical section through a modified form of the heating jacket portion with the lower portion broken awayand shown in elevation.
- Figure 3 is a horizontal section on the line 8-3 of Figure 2,
Like letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the different views.
Referring to the drawing,
A designates the combustion chamber of the stove which may be of any desired shape in cross section, preferably rectangular, and
of any desired length. It is shown as provided in the top with an opening a which is closed by a lid a. It may have a fuel door A at the end, as seen in Figure 1. B V is a chamber, the walls of which may or may not be formed integral with the chamber A and is out of communication therewith. The chambers A and B may be supported in any suitable manner, as by legs 1). Voodc, or any other suitable fuel, may beused.
In the form shown in Figure 1, the bottom of the chamber B maybe open, as shown at' (Z, or otherprovisionm'ay be made forthe admission of air into the chamber B.v
' .WVithin the chamber B is disposed a drum I G, supported therein, with a space 9 between its walls and the walls of the chamber B,
by any I suitable .means, as the metallic flanged members 9, as seen in Figure 1. The drum' is further supported in position by the intake flue D which affords communication between the chamber A and the drum, and
the exit/flue E supported in the wall of the chamber B and adapted to lead to a smoke flue or chimney. F is a flue or passage extended centrally through the drum G, while 6 isla flue leading from the upper portionof the chamber B forconducting the heated air from the said chamber to any desired point.
In Figure 21 have shown a modified form in which the chamber B is of tubular form vertically elongated and having an exit flue Z2 for the heated air, the hot air drum C, with its central flue F and its inlet flue-D and exit flue E" substantially the same as that in Figure 1 and sustained in position by similar means 9 The lower portion of the chamber B, however, is provided'with perforations c or other means for the admission of air into the chamber B. I
The arrows in Fig. 1 clearly illustrate the course taken by the air, and also by the "products of combustion and further detailed description does not seem necessary.
Modifications indetails may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages. Y
What is claimed asnew is i 1. A stove comprising a combustion cham her, a chamber adjoining the same, a hot air drum within the last-named chamber having a central vertical passage and in communi cation with the combustion chamber, the sec-. ond-named chamber having means adjacent the bottom thereof for the admission of air through and around .the'hot air drum, an exit pipe for hot air from the chamber ad joining the combustion chamber and in vertical alinement with the passage through. said drum, and inlet and outlet lines for the chamber and through the drum.
Q 2. A stove comprising a combustion chamher, a chamber adjoining-the same,a hot air drum Within the last-named chamber and having a central vertical passage and in the chamber 7 adjoining :the combustion 10 chamber and in verticalaIinementWith the passage through said drum, and inlet and outlet flues forthe products of combustion through the .hot air chamber and through having a 15 the drum, the combustion chamber fiat top and horizontally elongated.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature. V I CHARLES C. TOZIER.
