To all whomz'tmaxy concern:
Be it known that I, Enema Ltmwio MiiLLER, a citizen of the German Empire, residing at Berlin, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Safety Razors rior which I have filed an application in rmany May 14, 1919), of which the following is a specification.
My invention refers to safety razors and more especially to the blades used in connection therewith. As is well known people with very delicate skin refer being shaved With as rigid a razor or lade as possible. It is moreover important for such people that 35 they should be shaved at a very small angle of inclination of the razor, this being most essential for the clear shaving of concave parts of the face such as certain portions of the throat or for shaving the moustache. A0- cording to the present invention now these demands are complied with by the section of the blade being given the shape of a flat roof with a hole in the middle for directly fastening the handle in the blade. In order to comply with these requirements I prefer forming theblade section either like a fiat triangle or like a segment. In the drawings aflixed to this specification and forming part thereof two differ cut modifications of a safety razor embodying my invention are illustrated by way of example. In the drawings- Fig. 1 shows a safety razor with triangleshgped blade, 5 ig. 2 a safety'razor with segment-shaped blade,
Fig. 3 is a. plan of the blade shown in Fig. 1.
1 is the handle, 2 the blade, 3 the protective comb. The blade is provided in the middle with a hole 5 fitted with female thread, which the handle 1 is screwed into. In the face of the blade averted from the skin a groove 6 is provided, which is deep E enough to allow both blades 7 to lie flat upon the grindstone when being ground. The upper surface of the roof-shaped blade on one or both sides of the blade resembles the surface of a sphere, a cone or the like; the blade in Fig. '1 is shaped on its left half like a cone, while its right half is level. The blade in Fig. 2 is shaped like a sphere on both sides. As shown in Fig. 3, a convex two faces are in touch during the polishing,
while the conical shape allows of touch .in a line only.
By making one half of the blade straight, the other half curved, as shown in Fig. 3, the differently curved portions of the face can be shaved equally well.
The safety razors in use till now, in which a handle is screwed into the blade with the protecting comb underlying it, require special appliances for securing these parts relatively to each other in assembling them. Moreover the blade cannot easily be handled in mounting and dismounting; if handled clumsily it will either slip or injure the hand. According to the present invention these disadvantages are avoided by aid of indentations 4 arranged in the blade and in the protecting comb respectively. The fingers are laid in these indentations, and thus both parts are secured relatively to each other that they can be placed on the handle without using any set pins.
I claim:
1. In a safety razor apparatus, a blade having on one side, and at each edge of the blade, cutting edges offset from the main portion of the body of the blade, including two plane surfaces 1 ing in the same plane, a guard comb beneat the blade and ahandle extending through a centre hole of the blade and fastened therein.
2. In asafety razor apparatus, a blade having on one side, and at each edge of the blade, cutting edges offset from the main portion of the body of the blade, including two plane surfaces lying in the same plane, a guard comb beneath the blade and a handle extending through a threaded centre hole of the blade and fastened therein.
3. In a safety razor apparatus, a blade having on one side, and at each edge of the blade, cutting edges-offset from the main portion of the bodyof the blade, including mews? two plane surfaces lying in the same plane, the fingers in the concavities and thereby re a guard comb beneath the blade and a, handle mining them in position so that they can extending through a centre hole of the blade be fixed upon the handle Without the aid of me and fastened therein, both the blade and projecting pins.
the guard comb being provided with wide In testimony Whereoi I affix my signature, and gently curved concavities whereby both these pants can be laid hold of by placing EUGEN L. MULLER.
