Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEErefE.
DIEDBICH DIECKMANN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOY MONEYBCXES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 146,755, dated January 27,1874; application filed December 17, 1873.
To all whom Iit may concern:
Be it known that I, DIEDRICH DIEUKMANN, of New York, in the State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Toy-Safe, of which the following is a descriptiol'i:
The nature of my invention consists in the arrangement of a close box with an opening in the top for the introduction of the money, in combination with a cover, made to move perpendicularly upward by means of a suitable spring, to give access to said opening, or, upon being'pressed downward, to close the same, and operated by means of a lever arranged in the inside of the box or safe.
ln the accompanying drawing a toy-safe is represented in section, embodyin my improvement. A B C represent the sides, top, and bottom, fastened together by means of a central bolt, l), and forming the box or safe a', having a longitudinal opening, n, near the center in the top B, for the introduction of the money into the box. Opposite the opening nv a figure, B, is arranged, capable of vibrating on pieces m, and having on its under side a rod, c, with a weight, vu, on its end attached,
` `to give avibrating motion to said tigure. On
a central projection or ring arranged on the top B, a cover or cap, F, 1s tted, inclosing the figure B and opening fn. To this cover F three or more rods, G, are attached, moving in suitable holes or guides in the top B, and connected together' at their lower ends in the inside of the box a' by a crosspiece, H, guided and lnoving freely upon the central bolt l).
By this arrangement the cover F can move, 'and will be guided perpendicularly upward or downward for the purpose of exposing the vibrating figure R and opening n, and thus alarranged in such a manner that the plate "or cross-piece H, when the cover F is pressed downward close upon the top B, will be held `fast by this projection a. Below the crosspiece H, between the same and the bottom C, around the central bolt l), a spiral spring, S, is arranged, to force the plate H, and, consequentlythe cover F, upward as soon as the pin J is pushed inward, by which operation the projection `a is moved away from the crosspiece H. N is a spring attached to the upper end of the lever L to force this upper end inward, and keep the projection e in connection with the crosspiece H.
fha-t I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Lett-ers Patent, is
1."l`he toy-safe x, in combination with a cover, F, made to move perpendicularl y upward and downward, substantially as and for the purpose herein described. y
2. In a toy-safe, the combination of a cover, F, rods G, cross-piece H, lever L, and spring S, constructed and arranged to operate substantially as and for the purpose set fortln DIEDRICH DIECKMANN. litnessesz HENRY E. ROEDER, C. THORNTON.
