To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, JAMES M. ORIUT, of Malta, in the county of De Kalb and State of lllinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Thimble Skeins; and do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

My invention is intended particularly as an improvement upon the draftequalizer for which Letters Patent No.132,725 were granted to L. Kendlle, G. Gates, and myself, November 5, 1872; and it consists in casting an eye on the shoulder of the thimble-skein for the purpose of hooking or otherwise attaching the draft or stay chain, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains, to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and which represents a perspective view of my thimble-skein.

A represents a thimble-skein, cast with a shoulder,B, at the inner end. 011 this shoulder is cast an eye, 0, which should project on the front side of the axle when the skein is put on.

To this eye the draft-chain described in the patent above referred to is to be hooked or otherwise secured, bringing the point of draft close to the hub of the wheel, and obviating the necessity for any separate fastening.

Though this thimble-skein is specially designed for use with the devices described in the patent mentioned, it may be used wherever desired to attach an equalizing or stay chain.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The thimblcskein A, having an eye, G,cast on its shoulder B, as and for purposes herein set forth.
