T0 all whom t may concer Be it known that I, JOHN lV, Soi-IN, a citizen'oif the United States, residing at Roxborough, countyof-Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Methods and Apparatus for Beaming Warp, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this speciication.
This invention relates to an improved method and apparatus forwinding warp beams, particularly binder Warp beams for pile fabric.
As is well known to the art, binder warp beams for weaving some fabric of this character contain in the neighborhood of i880 warp threads or ends; p
The obj ect of my invention is to provide a method of beaming such warp and a device for carrying out the method in which the human element is eliminated toa very great extent, so that I am enabled t0 provide a beam without broken ends as well as a beam in which each threadhas been wound under substantially the same tension in its proper position on the beam so that the length of all the ends is substantially the same.
In carrying out my invention for a beam having 4.880 ends, I provide anumber of beams, for example, four, each with 1220 ends, place these beams in parallelism onv suitable supports in which they are free to rotate. I then conduct the ends from two oi' the beams about tension members to a roll in front of a measuring device and interpose between some of the tension devices guiding reeds and an automatic stop device. This stop device is arranged to stop the machine ii any of the ends are broken or slack. The ends from the other two beams pass around and through similar devices to the roll in liront of the measuring device. The ends from the four beams then pass from said roll about a measuring drum and. around a roll beyond the measuring device, the two rolls together with the meas-V uring drum also forming `a tension device. The ends then pass from the last roll through a guiding reed which maintains the different ends in their prearranged positions to the beam on which they are wound.

The various ends pass from the guide oye board 7 under the over guide rollers S and 9, and then through a separa-ting device l0, consisting oi a 4plurality of wire eyes similar to heddles,r in which alternate threads pass through the eyes while the others pass between the wires forming the eyes. The stop 27 is provided. with two sets ot circuit lingers 52, there being` one :tor each end. These lingers are all alike, but are split up in sets as the end4 are too close to each other to permit placing', for example, 2440 fingers in alignment, so therefore l divide the .fingers into a plurality oi' sets. These lingers are arranged to close the circuitbetnfeen one or the other ot tivo eontact devices and a contact 54e. By means el the above described connections, the circuit will be closed through the coil oit magnet :il il" any oil the ends should become slack or broken and permit its Finger to fall, which will stop the machine, and as soon as the end has been spliced and the slackremoved, the circuit will be broken by the lifting ot the fallen tinge/r, so that the machine can be again set into motion by shitting the clutch.
The advantages oit my invention result from the provision ot a method and apparatus lfor Winding beams having' a relatively large number oil ends or iva 'p threads in which substantially the same tension is applied to each end, so that all oil the ends on the beam ivill be ol substantially the same length and under the same tension.
