phia, county of Philadelphia, and State of .enn'sylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rear Lamps for Automobiles, of which the following is a specification;
Our invention relates to rearlamps and has for its object to provide a lamp of a' simple and compact construction embodying the features of a license holder, a tail light and an advertising lamp.

Referring to the drawings, 1 is a. casing, preferably of a tr'angular shape, having a rearwall 2, an inclined top 3 and a removable front wall 4: provided with an opening 5 anda perforated name 6 of the owner or vehicle) The front wall has formed at its bottom channel 7 adapted to receive a transparent plate 9 which covers opening 5 and perforated name 6. Lugs 9 extend downwardlyY om'top 3 and abutthe inner bottom of channel 7. The top of the front wall is bent to fo m a flange 10 from which cxtend-spring fing rs 11 adapted to engage front View of a lamp conthe inclined top 3\and thereby hold the transparent plate in place. The inner surface 12 of the ir iclined top serves as a reflector to refiect the light from a bulb 13 held by the rear wall. e rear wall has an extension 1st for holding a license tag 15 by screws or other securing means.
When the lamp is in use, bulb 13 is illumi nated and its light is reflected on the transparent plate To renew the. bulb or the transparent plate. access to the interior of the casingis casily gained, by removing the front wall. l To replace the front wall, the channel is placed against lugs 9 and the spring-fingers are snapped over the inclined top thereby securely holding the front wall in position.
While we have described our invention as taking a particular form, it will be understood that the various parts of our invention may be. changed without departing from the spirit thereof, and hence we do not limit ourselves to the precise construction set forth, but consider that we are at liberty to make such changes andalterations as fairly come within the scope of the appended claims Having thus described our invention, what we claim new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent is 1. A rear lamp for automobiles comprising a rear wall; a front wall having an opening; a top wall sloping rearwardly; re-x silient means affording attachment of the front Wall to the top wall; a channeled lower edge on the front wall; a transparent "closure member in the channel covering the opening; and illuminating means to the rear of the closure member.
2. A lamp for automobiles comprising a rear wall; a front wall having an opening; a top wall sloping rearwardly; a channeled lower edge on the front wall; extended portions on thetop wall insertable in the chan nel; a transparent plate in the channel covering the opening; and illuminating means to the rear-of the transparent plate.
3. A rear lamp fpr vehicles including a rear wall; a top sloping upwardly from the rear wall and downwardly toward its opposite ends; a removable front wall having an opening and a perforated name formed therein and provided with fingers afi'ording means of attachment to the top wall; a transparent plate on the inner side of the front wall; and illuminating means to 'the rear of the transparent plate.

A rear lamp for automobiles comprising a casing having a removable front wall provided with an opening and a channeled lower edge; means for detachably securing the front'wall to the casing; a transparent plate in the channel covering the opening; extended portions on the top wall of the easing insertable in the channel, and illuminating neans within the casing.
