To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EARL E. WHALEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tacoma, in the county of Pierce and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Door Hanger; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to car, barn, warehouse or other types of sliding doors, the purpose being to obtain a close fit when the door is closed and obtain freedom of move ment when sliding the door in either direcparent and suggest themselves as the nature of the invention is understood,
While the drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different conditions and requirements, various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the nature of the invention.
Referring to the accompanying drawing forming a part of the specification,
Figure 1 is an elevation of a car door illustrating the application of the invention.

Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and designated in the several views of the drawing by like reference characters.
The numeral 1 designates the side of a car provided with the usual opening which is closed by means of a sliding door 2. These parts may be of any construction and havebeen selected to illustrate the application of the invention which is peculiarly adapted for car doors. Above the door opening is located a track, the same comprising a horizontal web 3 an upwardly extending flange 4:, a depending flange 5 and an attaching flange 6. The flange 6 is located at the inner edge of the web 3 and preferably extends upwardly to receive the fastenings by means of which the track is attached to the side of the car. The flanges 4c and 5 are disposed along the outer edge of the web 3 and are preferably in the same vertical plane. The depending flange 5 acts as a retainer to prevent outward displacement'of the door" and the flange 4C'C OI 1StitIltGS a rail or track upon which the door 2. is mounted. Grooved wheels? aremounted upon theflange 4 and are journaled in frames 8 which cooperate with hangers 9 attached to the upper portion of the door 2. The hangers 9 are provided at their upper ends with sockets 10 which receive the stems of the frames 8. The track is provided with inwardly deflected portions 11 which cause an inward movement of the door 2 when closing so as to fit close against the side of the car .and prevent escape of material in bulk therein. When opening the door the initial movement thereof is outwardly to clear the side of the door and secure freedom' of movement whereby the sliding of the door into open or closed position may be easily and readily effected. This lateral movement of the door 2 is effected by the deflected portions 11 of the track as indicated most clearly in Figure 2, The upper edge portion of the door 2 is disposed between the depending flange 5 and the side of the car hence outward movement of the door is limited to prevent its displacement. Vertical movement of the door 2 is limited by the overhanging flange 3 l1ence the wheels 7 are prevented from leaving the track. The door 2 lies close against the side of the car both when open and closed. 7
A metallic strip 12 reinforces the lower edge of the door 2 and is provided with deflected portions 13 which perform the same function as the deflected portions 11 of the track. Rollers 14E cooperate with the strip 12 and the deflected portion 13 thereof to properly direct the door in its sliding movement. Brackets 15 attached to a side of the car support the rollers 14. The guide rollers 14 are located in line with the respective deflected portions 11 of the track so as to act jointly therewith in effecting a lateral movement of the door 2.
