To close the door the shaft 14 is rotated in the reverse direction.
It will be seen that my construction, as shown and described, provides a hopper car carrying a maximum amount of load and in which the door construction is slmple and rugged and may be readily operated, to deposit the material either between the rails or outside the rails and without flooding them.
What I claim is'.
1. Ina dump car, a bottom comprising inwardly sloping side portions, each said side portion comprising outwardly opening doors for side dumping and inwardly opening doors for center dumping, and means for operating said doors.
2. In a dump car, a bottom comprising inwardly sloping side portions, each said side portion comprising outwardly opening doors.

8. In a dump car, center sills, transverse frames having downwardly extending V portions, a longitudinally extending; frame intermediate each leg of the V, inwardly opening doors for center dumping pivoted adjacenttheinner surfacesot the longitudinal frame members, and outwardly opening doors, pivoted adi acent the outer faces of said members, the outwardly opening doors, when closed, serving to guide material through the doors when the latter are opened.
9. In a dump. car, center sills, transverse frames having downwardly extending V- portions, a longitudinally extending frame member secured intermediate each leg of the V, inwardly ing pivoted adjacent the innerfaces of" the longitudinal frame members, and outwardly opening doors pivoted adjacent the outer faces of, said members, a longitudinally extending shaft carried by'the transverse V-- frames adjacent the apexthereof andflinks connecting the shaft to the inwardly opening doors whereby rotation of the shaft in one direction closes both doors and in the opposite direction opens both "doors,- and" means for operating the outwardly opening doors. 1
10. A dump car havingits floor-between the trucks in the form of a longitudinallv extending hopper having its apex beneath thecenter line of the car, the sides of said hopper'comp'rising doors hinged at an intermediate point of the sides'to swing downwardly toward each other. I
