Description

Patented Apr.` 10, i923.
UNIT-E'- refs? f MARCOS CASAMAYQR, 0F MANZANILLO, CUBA.
Application-sied November r, yreel. serial No. 513,565. l
To all L1li/1,0m t may concern.' Be it known that I, MAnoos CAsAMAYoR, a subject of the Kin of Spain, and resident atl Manzanillo, vicljrovince'oii Oriente, Cuba (whose post-ofiice address is No. 67 Luz Caballero Street, Manzanillo, Province of Oriente, Cuba), have `invented certain new andv useful Improvements in a Sling Releaser for Transporting Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
' This invention relates tol a sling releaser applied particularly tothe transportingapparatus used for carrying the sugar cane from thecarts to the railroad cars or wagons andlits object is to provide a sling releasing hook of improved construction which is highly efficient in its operation owing to the safety of its securing action and the difficulty of being occasionally released, and.
rendering its operation substantially automatical. y
Other advantages and considerationswill 4be evident during the course of thisspeeification to those eXpertsin the art to which rthe invention relates, reference being had to the' figures of the annexed drawings in which the same reference characters indicate the same parts throughout the various figures. y
In the annexed drawings p F ig.l 1 is a side elevation of the sling releaser forming the subject matter of this invention. o Fig. 2 is a rear elevation thereof.
ig. 3 is an upper plan view of said releaser.
Fig. 4f is a Fig. 3. f
Fig. 5 represents in the same vertical section an operative position of the sling releaser. f Fig. G is a transverse on line 6 6 of Fig. 1.y y
This sling releaser comprises a casing of vrectangular cross section formed `by two side plates l separated apart by end plates 2 which' are shorter lowerly andy upperly thanthe plates 1 with which they are connected by means of screws entering on the edges or in any other proper manner, there being between these plates a hollow space 3. Each one of plates l terminates lowerly in an enlargement l presenting a cut in the shape of circular segment 4i terminatvertical section on line 1 -4v of horizontal sectionr 'ing at its lower pending portion in' a flat recess 1 and theend plates 2 are at its lower Y portions 1 1 and the raised portion of .1.6 designates a loose Y .horizontal pin 17 betweenl the enlargements 1 ofV plates 1 Aand inv frictional contact with portion of outer convex eurvedishapefso as to be adapted to the outer contour of the enlargements 1".
K Iraterally to its inner upper part beyond the end plate 2, the plates 4t present lugs 5` projecting outwards and between the same is fixed a horizontal pin G von which isJ pivotally mounted lever '7 which at its longer a loop 8 serving totie for the releasing entends between portion terminates in therethrough the cord the plates l, its end being larticulated ina slot in the upper part of a vertical bolt'9 which horizontal lit irl/Slots ner face of the vupper end and near/thelower curved portion yrespectively. of end plates 2, said bolt-9 terminating lowerly in a head 9 rounded at its inner part and flat at its outer part. Betweenthe enlarged of the side plates 1 is mount ed a hook 14 on afhorizontal'pivot lwhich passes'through a side point higher than the gravity center of 'the hook, said hook having the inner edge of its pendingv portionv 14 in concave curved yshape corresponding with the curvature of the recess 4 of plates the hook predesigned to n slidablye passes through guidi-ng plates 10 and 1l which sents a side angular cut 14 actas 'fittingrv to head 9 of bolty 9 in the .securing position of vthe hook.
On theV pending portion. 14 of the hook normally closing the recess 't of plates l of the casing is secured ,the "staple 15 of the sling.
head 9" of bolt 9 in the securing position of the same; Plates 1, terminate at their upper end in rounded portions 1 between inshoulders 12l and 13k of the inpull and itsshorter portion roller mounted on a which is Xed a pin 18 vwhere is mounted i a staple 19 for the suspension of the reo leaser.
The operation of this sling releaser is kas follows: In its securing position the staple 15 of the sling is heldby the hook 14 niainy tained in raised' position closing'the recess 4 by bolt 9 whose head 9 bears on the anaccordingly yposite end pending` a cord for the releasing' pull and aneleinent inalntaining frictionkaflever pivotedon the upper part of said main body and articulated at one end to the upper end ot the bolt and from the opally the lower end of the bolt against the cut .in the hook in the securing position ot the releaser.
2. A sling releaser for transportingapparatus, comprising a. main body presentingan inner hollow body and plates horizontally and rigidly arranged inside provided with guiding' seats: a bolt terminating lowerly in an enlarged head beveled at its outer facefsliding vertically through the guide openings ot the`plates; a lever pivoted at the upper part of the main body and an end portion being extended into the main body for being; articulated with the upper end of the bolt and pending troni its opposite' end a cord for the releasing pull; a hook pivoted in the lower part ot the main body at a point in said hook which is rhigher than the gravity center thereot the hook presenting the inner edge ot its pendingy portion closing: a recess in the Forni of `circular segment tornied at the lower part and towards the 'front of each side ot the main body so as to hold in that position the sta-ple ot sling' suspended and in which vposition fits the head of the holt with an angular cut Aformed laterally on the upper end oil: the hook and a roller loosely mounted on the lower part ot' the main bodr7 1n Frictional Contact with the lower end ot the bolt in the securing' position ot' the releaser. .ln witness whereof l atix inv signature.
