' BARREL STRUCTURE Filed Jan. 22, 1921 WITNESS d ATTORNEYS Patented Mar. Ztl), i923..
NETE@ Spill/1xllq1 UILLIATE A. ENGLAND, OF SAN FRAN'CSCO, CLFOBNLEA.
BARREL STRUCTURE.
Application ed January 22, 1921.
To all whom imag concern.'
Be it lrnown that l, WILLIAM A. ENGLAND, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city and county ot San F rancisco and State of California, have invented a new and useiul Barrel Structure, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to barrel structures and especially to those in which an inner receptacle is disposed.
An object or the invention is to provide an improved means for moun" a receptacle in an exterior casingacomprising a barrel. Another object is to provide means for preventing war sing of the exterior casing or barrel.
My invention possesses other objects and features of advantage, some of which, with the foregoing, will be set forth in the following` description of my invention. lt is to be understood that l do not limit myself to the showing made by the said description, as l may adept variant forms or" my invention within the scope oi' the claims.
In the drawings, F l is an elevation of one embodiment of my invention. F 2 is a top view of the barrel structure.
A desirable method of servingv certain beve erages, such for instance as root beer, is from a container having` the outward appearance or' a barrel. llVithin the barrel a receptacle into which containers for the beverage are disposed and surrounded by ice. `Suitable connections to a faucet in the side of the barrel provide means for drawing; on`x the beverage as it is wanted. Considerable dillculty has been experienced with the barrels in the structure just referred to because ot warping; in the open upper end. The method ot securing the inner receptacle, too, has not been satisfactory. lt is therefore to remedy these two troubles, among; others, that l have provided the instant structure, which comprises a strong wooden barrel 2 provided with the loose Serial No. 439,124.
is formed with inner and outer walls, 6 and 55 7 respectively so 'that the space between may be vacuumized, the better to preserve the low temperature desired in the receptacle. The inner wall 6 is the diameter oi the o enine of the rine` and is formed with an outwardly extending liange S which is attached to the upper face or the ringv by solder' or other suitable means. rvllhe outer wall 7 is provided with an inwardly er;-
tending ila-nge 8, the opening` thru which @5 is the same as the diameter of the inner wall. This flange is seated on the lower face of the annular bracing ring', and similarly attached thereto. Thus a very sprong and compact receptacle is secured and one in which a bracing means for the barrel casing is included.
l claim:
l. A. barrel structure comprising' a barrel,
a rigid hoop engaging one end of the barrel on the inside, and a receptacle pendantly disposed on said hoop.
2. A. barrel structure comprising' a barrel, a rigid annular ring engagii one end or the barrel on the inside, a double walled receptacle pendantly disposed. on said ring', a Hanne on the inner` wall of said receptacle overlying the upper face oi said ring?,` and connected thereto, und a flange on the outer wall of said receptacle underlying the lower face of said ring and connected thereto.
ln testimony whereof, l have hereunto set my hand.
WILLAM A. ENGLAND.
