WILLIAM J. LEVEEEIECE, F ELKI-IART, INDIANA.
COMBINATION GAltlViElfl'il' SUPPOETER.
Application filed June 2D, 1921.
To all whom it may concern:
lie it known that l, l/VILLIAM J. LnvnnnNcn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Ellrhart, county of Elkhart, Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination (:1 arment Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
'lhis invention relates to combination garjinent supporters, and especially stocking supporters.
The principal object of my invention is the production of a device or article, for supporting childrens stockings. Another object of the invention is the production of a device for supporting childrens stockings in which the belt automatically adjusts itself to the waist line of the wearer. Other objects of my invention are mentioned and described herein.
The preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved supporter; Fig. 2 is a section taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a section taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Similar numerals of reference indicate like members throughout the several views on the drawing.
Referring to the details of the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates an endless waist belt formed of elastic webbing or any suitable material of an elastic nature. Numerals 2 and 3 indicate two shoulder straps, also formed of any suitable elastic material, which straps cross each other at the rear at l and are secured thereat in any suitable manner, the lower end of each of said straps being secured to the back of the belt by stitching or otherwise, as at 5 and 6, respectively.
The front of the belt 1 may be provided with separate piece straps 7 and 8, respectively, on each side of the front portion thereof and of the button 22 secured to said belt adjacent the front and center thereof.
The straps 7 and 8 may be fastened to the belt by stitching or otherwise to form guiding loops through which the shoulder straps 2 and 3 extend, depending therefrom below the waist line of the wearer of the device, in which loops said shoulder straps are Serial No. are; 10.
freely slidable vertically. The lower end of each of the straps 2 and 3 is provided with a suitable type adjusting buckle 9 to accommodate the supporter straps to extreme conditions by adjustment thereof. it suitable stocking clasp 10 may be carried at the extreme lower end of each of the straps 2 and 3.
Uppositely disposed straps 11 and 12 may be secured to the belt 1 and at each side thereoi'fi, by stitching or otherwise at 13 and 14:, respectively, which straps are preferably made of any suitable elastic material, each of said straps being provided with a stocking clasp 15 at its lower end and an adjusting buckle 16 to vary the length thereof. Buttons 1'? and 18 may be secured to the belt at each side thereof adjacent the top of each strap 11 and 12, and a rear button 19 may be secured to the belt at the back side thereof. r-tnother button 22 may be secured to the belt at the front and center thereof. The. buttons 17, 18, 19 and 22 are I5 adapted to support garments of any character, such as boys trousers and at waist, or the corresponding garments of a girl.
Preferably, the belt 1 is formed of a memher or members of elastic material to snugly encompass the waist of the wearer, and when formed of a single piece of material it is stitched together at 23 to form an endless belt without buckles of any kind.
By thus making the belt and all the straps of my improved supporter of elastic material and effecting a sliding loop connection between the straps 2 and 3 and straps 7 and 8, not only does the belt 1 automatically adjust i'tself to the different waist line heights 9 of children, but also great and unusual freedom of movement of the wearer is permitted. thereby aflording exceptional comfort and convenience to the wearer.
I claim 95 1. In an article of the class described, the combination of an elastic belt; elastic shoulder straps secured to the belt at the rear thereof; sliding loop connection between said belt and shoulder straps adjacent the 100 front of the former; a stocking clasp on each shoulder strap; a stocking strap depending from each side of said belt; and a stocking clasp on each of said stocking straps.
2. In an article of the class described, the from each side of said belt; and a stocking combination of an elastic belt; shoulder clasp on each of said stocking straps. straps secured to the belt at the rear there- In Witness whereof I have hereunto afof; a sliding loop connection between said fixed my signature this 16th day of June, belt and shoulder straps adjacent the front 1921. of the former; a stocking clasp on each shoulder strap; a stocking strap depending \VILLIAM J. LEVERENCE.
