FRANCES SIBLEY LORENZ, OF AUGUSTA, GEORGIA.
COBRESFONDENCE KIT FOR TRAVELERS.
Application filed July 13, 1921. Serial No. 484,302.
To (if/t w/imn. it may concern Be it known that I, FRANCES SIBLEY Lonnxz, a citizen of the United States. residing at Augusta. in the county of Richmond and State of Georgia, have invented certain. new and useful Improvements in Correspondence Kits for Travelers, of which. the following is a specification.
My said invention relates to an improved correspondence kit for travelers and it is an object thereof to provide an improved container to hold letter paper and a pencil or other :instrumentality for writing on the same. i i
A. further object is to. provide a device of the character described which shall be simple and inexpensive and which may be discarded after the paper has been used up.
Referring to the accompanying drawings which are made a part hereof and on which similar reference characters indicate similar parts,
Figure 1 is a perspective of the device in open position, certain of the dotted lines indicating the closed position of the parts, and
Figure 2 is a section position.
In the drawings 10 indicates the bottom of the package which when the package is on display forms the face member and may have on its outer surface inscriptions of various kinds. I have proposed, for ex ample, to place thereon a picture showing pine trees on a hillside with a rising moon in rear thereof and a legend such as Bon voyage or Bon chance, thereon. Side members 11 and 12 extend. from member 10 and are adapted to fold over and enclose the contents of the package. The material of the cover is bent so as to form narrow strips 18 which correspond to the height of the material in the package when full. At one end of the package is a narrow strip Isl and a wider part 15 which folds over the paper to hold it in place.
At the other end of the package is a folded portion of material comprising a narrow strip 15, a wider strip 17, a second narrow strip 18 and a second wider strip 19 all of which together serve to enclose a pencil 20. These parts fold over and enclose a pencil and both the pencil holding parts and the paper retaining parts 14 and of the same in closed 15 at the other end fold under the side wings I have shown the are preii'erably made to 11 and 12. pencil being of ordlnary flat form with an enclosing metallic casing 21 but it will form of the pencil of the enclosing strip will.
be evident that the may vary and the form also vary correspondingly. The dotted lines in Figure 2 show the enclosing strip in open position.
Preferably the holder is filled with paper having lines of perforations extending down each side and across each end as indicated at 22. The narrow strip between the lines of perforations and is covered with dry be written on the inside of the edge of the paper mucilage. A letter may the sheet which is then folded along the rear edge at 23,
after which the mucilage is dampened and the edges of the paper caused to adhere. The address may then be written on the outside, a stamp aflixed and the letter ing from the spirit scope of the appended claims. particularly adapted for use in where the ordinary ence are not available as on trains of the invention or the The kitis situations facilities for correspond and ships and where it is desirable to provide everything necessary compass.
in the smallest possible While my device is described as intended to contain letter paper it is obviously adapted to hold post cards, visiting cards and other similar Having thus full vention, what I cla secure by Letters Patent,
devices.
y described my said inim as new and desire to 1. In a correspondence kit, a container formed of a single sheet the container pieces folding 111g means for of heavy paper,
having a back, side and end against the back and for holding letter paper, one of said end pieces being adapted to fold entirely around and tially as set forth.
rate compartments paper and entirely hold a pencil, substain correspondence kit comprising a single sheet of material folded to form sepafor a pencil and letter enclose the same, substantially as set forth.
3. A correspondence kit having end piece and side to form a pocket f v a back, an pieces folded thereover or letter paper, and another end piece folding under the side wings to form a pocket for a pencil, said end piece also forming a closure for the upper end of the pocket, substantially as set forth.
4;. A correspondence kit formed of a single sheet of paper having permanent creases at the sides and ends along which the same may he folded to provide separate enclosed )ockets, respectively for letter paper, am for means for Writing thereon, substantially as set forth.
