CONTROL VALVE FOR COMPRESSOR UNLOADERS.
FILED APR. 26, 1920.
pipe D now continues until the predetermined drop in pressure inthe receiver and pipe C occurs, When the pressure on the unloader end of the valve, aided by the spring 16, seats the valve promptly to close receiver pipe C, and open the unloader pipe D to the atmosphere, as shown in Fig. 1.
The construction shown in Figs. 2 and 3, and its operation, is substantially the same as that of F ig. 1, exceptI that the two valve seats are not in line, but the valve is divided into two parts B and B2 operating in different chambers, these two parts B', B2 being connected by lever 19 so as to operate as one valve and secure the same result as in Fig. l, it being understood that as valve B lifts from seat 3 to open receiver pipe C, valve B2 moves downward or is lowered onto seat 4, to close connection to the atmosphere. The parts of the construction other than the valve proper being the same in construction and operation as in Fig. 1, the same references are used for these parts.
It will be understood that, while the valve is especially intended for use as a control valve in unloading compressors, it is applicable also to other uses in which a similar pressure controlledvalve is required, and such uses are Within the invention.
What l claim is:
1.l In a control valve ot the class describedgthe combination with a casing having opposed pressure inlet and exhaust valve seats and a port tor connection with the valve control mechanism, of a pressure controlled valve device coacting with said seats, a flow retarding passage in the casing connecting the inlet with said .port and controlled by the pressure inlet end of the valve device, and a regulating valve in the liovv retarding passage. l
2. A control valve 'for air compressor unloaders or the like, consisting of a casing having a pressure inlet and an exhaust outlet, an unloader or other pressure-operated connection, a valve device acting to alternately close and open the pressure inlet and exhaust outlet by its movement in oppositeA directions, a passage the casing connecting the pressure inlet with the unloader mechanism connection and controlled by the pressure inlet end of the valve device, and a regulating valve in said passage.
3. A control valve Yfor air compressor unloaders or the like, consisting oit a casing having a pressure inlet and an exhaust outlet, a cylindrical valve device therein having reduced extensions adapted to close the pressure inlet and exhaust outlet, a port for connection with the unloadcr mechanism, a passage in the casing connecting thc pressure inlet with said port and the exhaust. outlet and controlled by the pressure inlet end oi' the valve device, and a regulating valve in said passage.
4.1n a control valve of the class dcscribed, the combination with a casing having opposed pressure inlet and exhaust valve seats, end chambers adjacent said valve seats Within the casing, a port :for connection With the valve controlled mechanism, and a low retarding passage connecting the inlet end 'chamber with said port at all times, of a pressure controlled valve device co-acting with said seats, and a regulating valve in said iiow retarding passage.
5. A control valve 'for air compressor unloaders or the like, consisting of a casing having a pressure inlet and an exhaust outlet, an unloader or' other pressure-operated connection, a valve device actingto alternately close and open the pressure inlet and exhaust outlet by its movement in opposite directions, apassage establishing immediate connection between the pressure inlet and the unloader mechanism lwhen the valve is moved to open the pressure inlet on a predetermined rise of pressure therein, and a regulating valve controlling said passage.
6. A control valve for air compressor unloaders or the like, consisting of u casing .having a pressure inlet and exhaust outlet.
end chambers adjacent said inlet and outlet and vvithin the casing, a cylindrical valve device having reduced extensions adapted to close the pressure inlet and exhaust outlet, a port. for connection with the uuloudcr mechanism, a passage connecting the inlet end chamber with said port and the exhaust'l end chamber at all times, and a regulating valve controlling said passage.
7. A control valve for air compressor unloaders or the4 like, consisting ot casing A having opposed pressure inlet and exhaust valve seats 3, 4, a vali/'e device having rcduced valve extensions 10, 11 vvithin chambers 12, 13 co-acting with said seats. connection' l) connecting with the unloudcr mechanism, passage 15 in casing A connecting vchambers 12, 13 with connection D and needle valve 6 controlling passage 15.
. ln testimony whereof. l have hereunto set .my hand.
