Be it known that l, ROBERT E.v SOHIEBER, ya citizen oic Germany,residing at Detroit, in the county ol' layne and State-o Michigan, have invented certain new and usel'ul Iniprovements in Push Buttons, ot which the following is a specilication, relerencebeing had therein to theaccompanying drawings.
y In my pending application Serial No. 487,346, tiled July 25, 1921, there is disclosed a lpush button construction that may be advantageously used on the steering column of an automobile or other vehicle for electrically operating audible and visible signals.

This invention relates to a somewhat similar push button and aims to simplify the `construction ol my prior application and at the same time retain certain novel features thereof.
The construction ot my improved button will be hereinafter described and then claimed, and reference will'now be had -to the drawing wherein,

To put my invention into practice, I provide a nut 1 with a cylindrical collar 2 having aperipheral Hanger?) disposed in parallelism with one end of the nut 1 so as to form -an annular groove 4. Atone side of. the nut there is a groove or passage 5 which intersects the collar2 land the flange 3 so as to providel clearancel for wires or conductors 6.
Detachably mounted on the collar 2 and the flange .3 thereof is a dislr 7 of insulation ma.- terial, as liber, and the central portion of the liber disk is provided' with rivets 8 and?) towhich the wires 6 are connected, said disk having a recess 10vat the .passage 5 of the nut. 1 providing clearance for'the wires 6. The head of the rivet 8 serves as a stationary Contact .member and the rivet 9 is employed,

The resilient cony tact member 11 is in the form ol a strip of metalbent to provide an apex portion by which the contact member may be depressed.
Detachably mountedy over the disk 7 and the connections carried thereby is a `sleeve 12 having its outer end provided with an inturned flange 13 to overlie a peripheral `flange 14 carried vby a cylindrical button member 15 slidable in the sleeve 12. The button 15 is made of liber or other insulation material and the Hat inner face of the Aton 15 will depress the resilient contact member 11 and cause it to engage the stationary contact member S and thus connect the wires,v 6 for an electric circuit. ton 15 is limited in ,its outward movement by theinturned flange 1B of the sleeve 12l and by reason ol the resilient contact member 111 being made from a wide strip of metal the button 15 is substantially supported within the sleeve 12 and cannot accidentally tilt therein or became accidentally displaced.
Retaining the` sleeve12 in engagement with the nut are opposed indented portions. or teats 16 at thek inner end of the sleeve 12,
best shown in Fig. 5, and by tilting the sleeve 12flirst one teat can be placed under the flange 3 and then the other teat, providing the teat is placed at the wires 6 and the v sleeve 12 partiallyrotated when said sleeve is shifted towards the nut 1. This operation will carry bothof the teats into the groove 4 and the sleeve 12 will be held, as shown in Fig. 2. 1
The expansivev Jrorce of the resilient contact member 11 will retain the liange 14 of the button 15 in engagement with the flange 13 of the sleeve 12 and the teats `16 of said sleeve in engagement. with the flange 3, so that all parts of thebutton construction are` assembled `against accidental displacement, yet permitting of the parts being separated for any purpose. n
