' To all whom. it may concern". I
Be it known that l Jonrrr'M. Yemenos, a citizen of. Austria-Hungary, now Qzecho- Slovakia, residing at Northampton, inthe county of Northampton and State of Pemh" sylvania, have invented new and useful llmprovements iii-Storm Boots, of wh ch the following is .a specification.
This invention relates to boots and has for an object the provision of a boot whloh is of'a strong and durable construction, being especially designed for rough wear and which may be manufactured-at a nominal cost.
Another object of the invention is theprovision of a boot, the upper of whichus made of leather, or similar tough material and the leg of heavy cloth, so as to aflord protection to the le novel means being provided for connecting the leg and upper to insure a strong and durable boot. I Another object is theprovision, of means for constructing the top portion of the leg so as to fit snuglyv about the leg of the wearer, in order to keep out snow or rain. With the above and other objects in view, the invention .further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings zy V Figure 1, is a perspective view of a boo embodying the above invention.
Figure 2. is a rear elevation of the same. Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the'boot comprises an upper 10, which is preferably formed of leather or similar. tough material, having secured thereto a relatively heavy sole 11 and hee1'12.
The leg portion of the boot indicated at 13, is preferably made of heavy cloth, the front and rear portion of the leg being formed separately and secured together along each side at the point indicated at 14L. In order to secure the up er and leg together in a strong and dura lemanner,
the upper is formed upon opposite sides within the scope ofthe invention.
formed integrally therewith,
with a tongue 15, and at the front with the tongue 16.] These tonguesextend upward along the boot leg; to which they are secure by stitches 1 while a row of stitches J 18 extends around the top portion of the upper, a tongue 19 is also providedat the rear or heel portion or the boot, but the tongue is separately formed so asto ro- I vide a re-enforcing strip which extends rom I the upper portion of the heel and along'the to back of the upper'and the rear portion of the leg, to which it is secured by. stitching as at 20. To provide for conveniently removingthe boot, the heel portion has secured thereto a leather triangular shaped toe to piece 21, which may be engaged with the sole of the other boot or with the boot strap to aid in removing the boot.
The top edge of the leg is provided with a re-enforcing binding'22, the latter extend to ing entirely around the top of the'leg por tion which is slitted as shown at 23. Located upon one side of the slit and secured to the leg is a buckle 24, while secured tov the leg from the opposite side of theslit it is a strap 25. By this means the top of the leg may be fastened tightly about the leg of the wearer so as to prevent the en trance of rain or snow into the top of the boot. to
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is here in reserved to make such changes as fall $5 Having described the invention what is claimed is:.-
A boot comprising a leather u per, a plurality of spaced upwardly extending tongues and said to tongues being arranged progressively at right angles with respect to each other, a fabric leg portion secured to the upper edge of said upper and the edges of each tongue respectively, an auxiliary row of stitching following the upper edges of said upper but below the bottom portion of the tongues,
means for adjusting the size of the upper end of the fabric leg portion, a binding vsecured around the upper edge of saidleg 1100 e2 wees I portion for the purposeof re-enforoing thet tria, ngle shape in outline rigidly secured pert thereby, a heel secured to the bottom upon the last mentioned tongue with one of said upper, a sole secured to the bottom of its sides uppermost for the purpose speci- 10 of said upper and engaging the heel, 21 sepgfied.
