Operation.

The valvular bushing or sleeve Z isreadily adjusted by the knurled head fand as above described the torch-is adapted to have this sleeve function to either adjust the air Aor oxygen and gas simultaneously when the connections are at j and 7c or permit 'tree supply of the air and regulated supply ot the gas as when the connection is at g and 7c. The use of the plug m dividing the interiorof the valvular sleeve into separate end chambers and carrying the pipe n is essential to this regulation; and the fact that .the plug and pipe n are carried by this valvular bushing or sleeve enables a. simple construction to perform the functions described.

l. A torch consisting of a tubular body portion with a tubular neck of' less diameter than the body portion, a sleeve rotatably mounted Within the bodyr portion, means portion having registering ports commu.

2. ifi torch consisting of a tubular body portion with a tubular neck of less diameter than the body portion, a sleeve rotatably mounted vvithin the body portion, means for limiting rotation oi' the sleeve consisting of a projection upon the sleeve having` la limited extent of movement in a slot in the body portion, means tor rotating the sleeve consisting of a knurled headformed integrally with one end 'oi the latter and extending bee yond the body portion, a' plug Within the sleeve and dividing its interior1 into an air chamber' and a gas chamber, a pipe of diminutive bore mounted Within the plug, a port in said body portion adapted to com-` municate with the air chamber, a second port in said body portion adapted to communicate with the gas chamber, ports in the sleeve adapted to register with the ports in the body portion, a port in the knurled head o'l the sleeve in axial alignment with the air chamber, an airsupply pipe adapted to be removably connected to either the"port`in the body portion communicating With the air chamber or the port in the knurled head, a removable plug adapted to be mounted in theair port to Which the air supply pipe is not connected and a gas supply` pipe adapted to be connected to the port in the body portion which communicates With the gas chamber.
3. A4 torch consistingof a tubular body portion with a tubular neck of less diameter than the bodyportion, a sleeve rotatably mounted Within the body portion, meansfor rotating the sleeve, a plug` Within the sleeve dividing its interior into a pair of axially aligned chambers onev of said chambers'being adapted to receive a gas and located adjacent the neck and in communication therewith, pipe of diminutive bore mounted Within the plug and extending to the mouth oi` the neck, its opposite end being in communication with the air chamber, a gas supply pipe adapted to communicate AWith the j gas chamber, an air supply pipe and a pair of connections for connecting the air supply pipe to the air chamber whereby the air may be admitted in an axial direction into the air chamber or any direction perpendicular body portion,l a plug dividing the interior of the bushing or sleeve into separate end chambers, a pipe of diminutive bore carried at one end by the plug centrally thereof and extending completely therethrough and projecting through the body portion of the torch to the mouth thereof, means whereby different inflammable gaseous fluids are independently supplied to the respective chambers consisting of registering ports in the bushing or sleeve and body portion respectively and communicating With the chamber in advance of the plug, a port in the rear end of said bushing or sleeve and registering ports in the bushing or sleeve and body portion respectively and communicating With the chamber at the rear of the plug and a removable plug for the rear port and the part contiguous thereto in the body.
5. A torch for the purpose set forth con-l sisting of a tubular body portion With a tubular neck of less diameter than the body portion; a tubular bushing or sleeve Within the body portion and substantially equal in diameter to the neck, the body portion hav ing a slot and the bushing or sleeve carrying a projection engaging the slot, means whereby the bushing or sleeve. is rotated Within "the limit of the slot, a plug Within the bushing er sleeve and dividing it into end chambers, a pipe of diminutive bore carried at one end by the plug and extending therethrough and projecting therefrom through the torch to a short distance. beyond the mouth thereof, the bushing or sleeve and body portion having registering ports communicating with the chamber in advance of the plug, the bushing or sleeve and body portion having registered ports communicating With the chamber in rear of the plug, and the rear end of the said bushing or sleeve being open, a removable plug for one pair of the Said registering ports and the open end of the bushing or sleeve, the said open end of the bushing or sleeve` having a knurled head, and a nozzle carried slidably by the neck of the torch and having its end constricted over the mouth of the neck to present a mixing chamber.
