Application filed June 4, 1919. Seria1'No.'801,654.'
To all whom it may concern:
.Be it known that I, ANTON Kormmr- BRAND, a citizen ,of the. United States of America, residing at Buxton, in the countygagement with a window casing without the isadvantages incident to the engagement therewith of termination fastening means serving in the ordinary practice to deface or mar the woodwork, and adapted to be applied, after the adjustment of its elements, in a single operation to a casing, regardless of the width or general contour thereof, in a single operation, preparatory to mounting the shade roller and curtain polethereon.
With these objects in view the invention consistsin a construction and combination of parts of which a preferred embodiment is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, it being understood that changes in form and proportion may be resorted to within the scope of the claim without deprinciples involved. In the drawin v Figure 1 is a front view of the apparatus applied in the operative position to a win dow casing Fig. 2 is a detail view in perspective of one end of thedevice V Fi 3 is a detail sectional view taken in the p ane of one of the terminal bearing elements of the extension bar Fig. 4 is a detail sectional view through the telescoping joint between the members of said bar The bracket consists essentially of an extension bar 10 comprising relatively mow,
able and adjustable members 11 and 12 connected by a telescoping joint by providing one of the members with a sleeve 13 for the reception of the extremity 14 of the other member, a coiled spring 15 being arranged to embrace said telescoping portions of the members and being, terminally connected therewith respectively by pins 16 engageable with series of transverse openin s 17 so that by changing the-locations o the pins the tension of the spring may be varied to adapt the length of the bar to different widths of window casings; At their remote extremities these bar members are provided of the shade roller socket arms 23 and bean,
After having determined the length of upper edge thereof so as to bring the termi nal bearing end 18 thereof in contact with the side surfaces of the frame as indicated in Fig. 1 whereupon the contractile force of the spring acting upon the members of the extension bar will hold said bearing feet in place and thus properly position the pole and roller bearing elements. The arrangement of the extension bar above the upper edge of the casing serves to conceal it from view. within the room and at the same time prevents the downward displacement of the bracket by reason of excessive downward strain thereon, without necessitating any permanent means of fastening for engage;
ment with the woodwork of the casing.
The invention having been described, what is claimed as new and useful is:
A curtain and shade roller bracket com-' prising anextension bar adapted to lie on the upperedge of a window frame, the said extensionbar being formed with terminal bearing feet to engage the upper side edges ofthe frames, channel shaped guides disposed in planes at ri ht angles to the bearing feet and paralle ing the main portion of the extension bar, the said guides'having 2 ass m5 theirfianges set in slots formed in the bear ing feet, shade roller socket arms having their bases disposed transversely across the channel shaped guides and formed with ears engaging the opposite sides of the guides, bearing plates set between the flanges of the guides, and screws passing through the bases bf the socket arms and threadingly engaging the plates, the channel shaped guides being formedlin their webs with 1011- 10 gitudinal slots through which the screws
