To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, J OSEPH FIsHER, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Girard, in the county of Macoupin and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Milk-Bottle Caps, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in a stopper for milk bottles.
In carrying out my invention it is my purpose to produce a closure which may be easlly and quickly attached to or removed from the mouth of a milk bottle, and which n applied position will effectively seal the said bottle.
Other objects and advantages Wlll appear as the nature of the invention is better under stood, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Inilie construction of milk bottles the shoulder 1 formed inward of the bead 2. at the mouth of the bottle varies not so much in depth as in circmnference, and consequently stoppers of the same size do not effectively seal the bottle when applied.
With my improvement, it is my purpose to produce a stopper for such milk bottles that may be molded or cast of any desired non-absorbent material, glass or porcelain preferred, in which the same includes a diskshaped body 4 having its opposite faces provided with integrally formed annular or flanged bosses 5 and 6 respectlvely. The bosses may vary in depth and in cross sectional diameter, not to any great extent, but sufficient to permit of the same bemg snugly seated to contact all of the walls provided by the shoulders in the mouth of the bottle. The bosses are, of course, round in plan, and to effectively secure the stopper on the mouth of the bottle I employ a spring clamp. The clamp is preferably constructed from a single strand of wire bent at diametrically opposite points to provide downwardly eX- tending inwardly inclined clips 7, the side strands of the clips being projected inwardly in parallel relation with each other and connected to the oppositely rounded portions 8 which provide the body of the clip. The curved body portions may be spread away from ,each other to snugly en gage the inner edges of the bosses or flanges 5 and 6. The flanges or bosses 5 and 6 preferably have their sides or periphery inclined from their outer surface to their juncture with the body 4., so that the rounded portions 8 of the clip will effectively engage therewith. The clip is constructed of spring material, as previously intimated, the clips 7 of the clamp engaging with the beaded edge 2 of the mouth of the bottle, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings.
It is believed from the foregoing description, that the simplicity of the construction and the advantages of the improvement will be apparent to those skilled in the art to which such inventions appertain without further detailed description.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is
In combination with a milk bottle having a beaded outer edge and an annular depression in the mouth thereof, a stopper including a body resting on the mouth, said stopper having its opposite sides formed with annular bosses which are depressed or formed with an annular channel at their uncture with the body, a spring clamp for holding the stopper on the body, said stopper being constructed from a single strand of resilient wire bent to provide slde strands which at their ends are parallel and which at their central portions are rounded outwardly from each other to provide gripping elements that engage the opposite sides of one of the bosses, the said parallel end strands being rounded downwardly and inwardly in spaced relation to each other and having their ends connected by a transverse member which, in connection with the said downturned portions provide clips, the pairs of clips exerting a pressure toward each other and being designed to engage at diametrically opposite points with the beaded mouth of the bottle.
