Be it known that I, ANTHONY C. VMc- GINTY, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Baby-Carriers, of which the following is Ya specification. j

My object is to make a baby carrier, and my invention consists of the novel features herein shown, described and claimed.

Figure 1 is a perspective of ababy carrier embodying the principles of my invention.

Fig. 2 is a plan view of the baby carrier box removed from the harness unfolded and spread out flat, parts being broken away to show the construction.

Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the baby carrier shown in Fig. l.

Fig. 4 is a fragmentary sectional detail on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3.

Fig. 5 is a fragmentary side elevation and looking in the direction indicated by the arrow 5 in Fig. 3.

The baby carrier box 1 consists of the seat 2, a back 3 hinged to the rear edge of the seat, the sides 4 and 5 hinged to the back 3 and adapted to extend along the sides of the seat 2, the foot rest support 6 hinged to the front edge of the seat 2, and the foot rest 7 extending from the lower edge of the support 6.

The seat 2 consists of a rectangular wire frame 8 covered with a suitable heavy stiif fabric 9. In a like manner the back 3 consists of a rectangular frame 10 and a fabric cover 11. The sides 4 and 5 consist of frames 12 and 13 and covers 14 and 15. The frame 8 is hingedly connected to the frame 10 by hooking one wire around another, and in a like manner the frames 12- and 13 are hingedly connected to the frame 10. Eyes 16 and 17 are formed at the outer lower corners of the frames 12 and 13 to engage hooks 18 and 19 formed at the outer front corners of the frame 8. The foot rest support 6 comprises a frame 20 and a cover 21,

and the frame 20 is hingedly connected to the frame 8 by hooking one wire around another. T he foot rest 7 is formed by bending the frame 2O at right angles and extending the cover 21 to cover the foot rest 7.

When the baby carrier box 1 is made up for use, as in Fig. 1, hooks 22 and 23 extend from the front edges of the sides 4 and 5, and chains 24 and 25 are secured to the lower corners of 'the foot rest support 6 to engageV of the attendant and comprises a belt 29V adapted to besecured around the waist, a

strap 30 connected at the central portion of the belt and adapted to pass over one shoulder and be attached to the front of the belt, a box support 31 removably connected to the r belt and adapted to engage the box, and the chain 32 connected to the upper part of the back 3 and extending along the strap 30 to the front. The belt 28 has a buckle construction 33 at the front, and the strap 30 has a buckle construction 34 at the front. The chain 32 slides through loops 35 upon the belt 30 and has a hook 36 removably engaging an eye 37 at the center of the upper edge of the back 3, so that by manipulating the chain 32 from the front the box may be adjusted to have the back 3 of the box fit the back of the baby tender as desired.

The box support 31 is a spring wire and has a hook 38 at one end to engage a loop 39 upon the belt 29, and a hook 40 atthe other end to engage the loop 41 upon the belt. The box support 31 extends from a position to have the box 1 directly behind the attendant to a position to allow the box 1 to slide around to the side of the attendant. The wires rforming the frame 10 are bent to form posts 42 and 43 and bearings 44 Vand 45. The posts 42 and 43 fit in the loops 46 and 47 .fixed to the belt 29 so as to hold the box 1 directly behind the attendant with the back 3 against the back of the attendant, and the box support 31 slides through the bearings 44 and 45, so that when desired the box may be raised slightly tol move the posts 42 and 43 out of the loops 46 and 47, so that the box may slide around the wire 31 to the side of the attendant, and so thaty the attendant may give attention to the'baby in the box.

When it is desired to remove the boxV 1 loops 46 and 47, and the hook 36 disconnected from the eye 37.

I claim:

' l. A baby carrier comprising a box having a seat, a back hinged to the rear edge of the seat, sides hinged to the back and adapted to extend along the sides of the seat, a toot rest support hinged to the front edge ot the seat, and a foot rest extending from the lower edge of the support; and a harness adapted to secure the box to the body of an attendant and having a belt adapted to be secured around the Waist, a strap connected at the central portion of the belt and adapted to pass over one shoulder and be attached to the front of the belt,

a box support removably connected to the 20 belt and adapted to engage the box, and a chain connected to the upper part of the box back and extending along the strap to the front.
