Patented Dec. 30,1919.
fn-uenz'or I Max J Ez'flexlflfh 3y 7m aux M his Afiorneys MAX J". RITTERRATI-I, 0F LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
DROPPER-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 30, 1919.
Application filed March 17, 1919. Serial No. 283,248.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX J. RITTERRATH, a citizen of Germany, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Dropper-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a holder" for medicine droppers and the like, and pertains particularly to a holder which may be detachably secured to a bottle or medicine con tainer.
Medicine droppers and the like, after use are usually laid upon their side apart from the medicine bottle. Thus, they may roll about collecting on their moist ends dust and foreign matter making them unsanitary. They are also in the way and become broken or lost. The bulb end will quickly deteriorate, when left lying with some of the medicine within the bulb.
It is the principal object of this invention to provide a holder which may be attached expeditiously to and detached from a bottle, and will hold a dropper in vertical position. In addition to the broader features of this invention, there are certain details of design whereby a cheap durable structure, light in weight, and simple in construction is obtained.
These objects will be more fully understood, as will also other objects and corresponding accomplishments of my invention from the following detailed description of an embodiment thereof. For the purpose of this description, reference is had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the holder, a bottle and dropper being shown in dash lines; Fig. 2 is a side elevation; Fig. 3 is a plan view; and Fig. 4: is a view of the stamping from which the holder is formed.
The details and features of my invention will now be more particularly described, reference being had to the drawing. An ordinary medicine bottle is indicated by A. Mounted thereon is a holder B, in which is supported a medicine dropper C.
Referring particularly to Fig. 4, the holder is shown stamped from a single piece of pliant metal such as aluminum. It consists of a top bracket portion 5 having a relatively large hole 6 cut therein. The portion extending from bracket part 5 is slit to form an arm 7 and a back 8. A bottom bracket portion 9 has a hole 10 formed therein.
Referring more particularly to l igs. 1, 2 and 3, the back 8 is bent at 90 to the plane of the bracket 5, the arm 7 remaining in the plane of the bracket 5. The bottom bracket 9 is bent forward at substantially 90 to the plane of the back 8. The arm 7 is twisted through 90 and bent around the neck of the bottle to which it is to be attached. The metal of which the holder is formed being pliant will permit bending of the arm to snugly embrace the neck for each bottle to which the holder is applied. The holes 6 and 10 are in vertical alinement. The lower one 10 will receive the nozzle of the dropper, and the latter will rest upon the shoulder above the nozzle, unless, as is shown in the drawing, the dropper is formed with an enlargement 11. In the latter case the holder is supported by the enlargement resting upon the top bracket 5.
It is obvious that I have provided a simple durable holder, easily attached to and detached from medicine containers. It is cheap to construct, as it may be made from a single piece of metal, first stamped and then bent into shape.
What I claim is:
1. A dropper holder for attachment to a container formed of a single piece of pliant metal of rectangular form slit longitudinally to form a bracket body with a back and arm extending therefrom, said bracket body being bent at right angles to said back and being formed with an opening to receive a dropper, said arm being bent in a direction opposite to said bracket body and twisted for embracing the neck of a container.
2. A dropper holder for attachment to a container formed of a single piece of pliant metal of rectangular form slit longitudinally to form a bracket body with a back and an arm extending therefrom, said body being bent at right angles to said back and being formed with an opening to receive a dropper, the lower end of said back bein bent out wardly to form a second bracket, said brackets having openings in alinement for receiving a dropper, said arm being bent in a direction opposite to said brackets and twisted for embracing the neck of a container.
In witness that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed my name this 7th day of March 1919.
MAX J. RITTERRATH.
