To all whom it/mag concern:
Be it known that I, HIRAM A. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kalamazoo, county of Kalamazoo, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Molds, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in molds.
The main objects of this invention are:
First, to provide an improved mold for the manufacture of staves or blocks for circular structures such as silos, bins, tanks and the like.
Second, to provide an improved mold for the manufacture of staves and blocks for circular structures of difierent-diameter.
Third, to provide animproved mold having the aboveadvantages which is simple in its structure and use ormanipulation.
Further objects, and objects relating to structural details will definitely appe r from the detailed description to follow.
Figure I is a plan view of a mold embodying the features of my invention.
Fig. II is a cross section on a line corresponding to line 22 of Fig. I with the mold being shown filled.
Fig. III is an enlarged detail section through one of the side members on a line corresponding to line 33 or" Fig. I.
Fig. IV is a detail section on a line corresponding to line H of Figs. I1 and V, showing the means for positioning the side members and details of the connections for the side and end members.
Fig. V is a detail section on a line corresponding to the broken line 55 of Figs. II and III.
Fig. V1 is a detail view of an end member having its dowel openings positioned so as to support the side members with their faces at a difi erent angle relative to the plane of the pallet.
VII is a detail view of a wall formed of staves of the type my improved mold is designed to produce.
In the drawing, similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views, and the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines.
Referring to the drawing, the pallet 1 is of the proper dimensions to receive the mold side and end members which are arranged thereon, as shown in Fig. I. The faces of Specification of Letters Patent.

there being a set of end members provided for each diameter of wall which it is desired to manufacture. The end members are preferably provided with suitable indicia indicating the diameter so that unskilled workmen will have no difiiculty in manufacturing the various blocks or staves which maybe desired.
In practice, the side'and end walls are de-' tachably secured together and preferably by means of bolts-14 and the clamps 15, the
bolts 14 being disposed through diagonally opposite arms and diagonally opposite ends of the associated end members so that one side and end member is handled as a unit in positioning on the pallet and removing therefrom. The clamps 15 are mounted upon diagonally opposite arms to be swung over the ends of the end members, as clearly shown in Fig. I, thus providinga means for quickly securing the parts.
A number of pallets may be provided so that blocks'may be allowed to rest thereon until sufliclent is set for handling or may be' completely cured while resting on-the pallets, it being practical to remove the side and end walls of the mold within a short time after the block is formed. The length ice of time depends more or less on the character of the material used, that is, the amount of water which it contains.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1, In amold, the combination of a pallet, side members resting on said pallet and having outwardly projecting arms at their ends provided with dowel pins, the faces of the arms being flush with the ends of the side members, a plurality of sets of end members adapted to be interchangeably associated with said side members and having dowel openings thereon, coacting with the dowel pins of said side member arms, the dowel openings of the difierent sets of members being difierently positioned so that when the dowels of a set are engaged the faces of the side members are supported at a predeterined angle relative to the plane of the pallet, bolts for detachably securing one side member to one end member associated therewith, so that such side and end member may be handled as a unit disposed through diagonally opposite arms of the side members and diagonally opposite ends of the end members, and clamps for detachably securing the other side member arms to the other ends of the end members.
2. In a mold, the combination of a pallet,

3. In a mold, the combination of a pallet having an unobstructed fiat face, removable side members resting on said pallet, a plurality of sets of removable end members adapted to be interchangeably associated with said side members, the said side and end members having co-engaging positioning means for the side members, the positioning means of the dilferent sets of members being varied so that by interchanging the sets of end members, the faces of the side members are supported at difierent predetermined angles relative to the plane of the pallet, and means for detachably securing said side and end members with said p0- sitioning means in engagement.
