Be it known that I, EDWIN ELMER ALL- STATTER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hamilton, in the county of Butler and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements 1n Toys, of which the following is a speclfication.

My invention is an improvement 1n toys, and has for its object to provide a toy of the motion type, wherein the representation of afigure is provided, suitably mounted upon a base and connected with means for causing the figure to dance a jig upon the support.

In the present embodiment of the inventi on, a figure 1 is provided, in the present instance, the representation of a man, and the lower legs 2 of the figure are hlnged to the upper legs as indicated at 3, so that when the figure is joggled, the lower legs Wlll sw ng to simulate dancing. i It will be noticed that the feet and the upper legs may also be jointed if desired, as well as the arms, in order to increase the effect of movement. A base 4: is provided in the form of a box or case having an open bottom, and having at the center of its top an upwardly extending tubular extension The box also has a slot or notch 6 in the lower edge of one side, and within this slot or notch. a lever 7 is arranged- This lever has its inner end just below the tubular extension 5 and its outer end is well outside the base 4. The lever is pivoted on a rod 8 which is engaged with the opposite side walls of the base, and the outer end of the lever has a finger piece 9.

A rod 10 is connected with the figure in any suitable manner at one end, andv the other end of the rod is connected with a plunger 11 which fits within the tubular extension 5. The plunger fits smoothly in the extension, so that it will move freely in the vibrated, the more violent the agitation of the figure. During the agitation, the feet will strike the hollow box base.

When the figure descends to its lowest position the plunger 11 is out of the tubular extension 5 and because of the flexibility and resiliency of the parts, a considerable lateral movement of the figure is permitted. When the figure is moved rapidly, it will not only shake its jointed legs but will also vibrate laterally. At the same time when the plunger is moved upward the conical point will cause it to always center correctly.

I claim A figure toy comprising a hollow base having a tubular extension in its top, a lever pivoted to the base, the other end being below the extension, a plunger on the inner end of the lever and having a tapered upper end for centering the plunger with respect to the extension, a jointed figure, and a rod extending through the extension and connecting the figure with the tapering end of the plunger, the body portion of the plunger being out of the extension when the figure is in its lowermost position.
