To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that LLEXEY BARRY ELLIS, J12, a citizen of the United States, residing at Memphis, in the county of Shelby and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the inven tion, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to toys, and' has for an object to provide a toy particularly adapted for the amusement of small children, the toy being so constructed and arranged that it can be readily operated.

Another object of the invention is to provide a toy which consists of relatively movable members having figures associated therewith whereby the operation of the members will result in the operation and movement of the figures, causing the figures to coiiperate in their movements to produce an amusing result.

A further object of this invention is to provide a toy of this character, which will be simple, practical and comparatively inexpensive in construction and one that can be manufacturedfand sold at a low cost.

With these and other objects in view, the

invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and set forth in the claim hereto appended.

Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawing.

Referring to the drawing, the numerals 5 and 6 designate operating members, respectively. Each operating member has pivotally secured thereto a supporting block 7. T he supporting block 7 is pivoted as at 8 to the operating members 5 and 6, respectively, intermediate the ends thereof. A figure 9 is secured to the upper side of the block 7 and is located above the upper operating member 5. i

A figure 10, representing a sailor, has its feet pivotally secured as at 11 to the opera hannneror mallet desio'nated 13.

A second figure 1% representing a soldier has its portion representing the feet pivotally secured to one end of the member 6 as at 15 and to the end remote from the end carrying figure 16. The figure 14: is also secured as at 16 to the operating member 5 adjacent its free end so as to permit the portion in rear thereof to constitute an operating handle. Figure 14 has its arms extended in the direction of the other figure and has secured thereto a mallet or hammer 17, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully described.

It will be understood from the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing that by virtue of pivoting figure 10 to the extreme end of the member 5 and to the member 6 adjacent its end it forms an operating handle, and by pivoting figure 1a to the other end of the member 6 and adjacent the other end of the member that there is also provided another operating handle. By grasping the two operating handles of the members 5 and 6, respectively, and moving them in opposite directions the hammer of one of the figures will be urged into engagement with one side of the head of the figure 9 due to the fact that the block and head are tilted by the movement of-the members 5 and 6 respectively.

Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
