Description

N. u. MonRE( GARMENT.
Avmcmxou FILED MNHN. mi
ATTORNEY WITNESSLS NELLT C'. MooriE, oF VIRGINIA, MINNESOTA.
GARMENT.
specification of Letters Patent.
.Patented No'v. 25, 1919.
Application filed January 30, 1917. Serial No. 145,475.
To all 'whom 'it may concer/n.'
Be it known that I, NELLIE C. MooRE, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Virginia, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garments, of which the following is a s eciication. l,
This invention re ates to an improved gal'- Inent of thetype worn by young children and commonly known as a romper andthe Aprincipal object of the invention is to proand secured vide a garment of the type specified which will be simple in construction and which may be formed-'of a minimum number of parts and which will further be so constructed that the lowerportion may be securely fastened but at the same time easily loosened and'fturned vback -when desired'.
4Another object of the invention is to so construct, thisA device, that,it will be very simple in construction and'that it may be easily and quicklyv made with a mininuuu amount of labor;
This invention is illustrated in the accom; panying drawings, wherein z- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved garment.
Fig. 2 is'a View of the Ablank from which the garment shown in Fig. 1 is formed. and
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view taken along the line 3-3 of Fig?l 1. The garment shown in Fig. 1y is formed from the blank shown in Fig. 2. This blank is cut to provide a front or forward section 10 and a rearward section 11. the side edges of the blank being extended at the junction het-Ween the front and rearward sections 1.o provide the arm extension 12. A- front closure flap 13 has one transverse edge there of arcuated or curved as indicated at lfb to a correspondingly formededge of the section 11 substantially in the manner shown in Fig. 8. Adjacent the secured edges thereof` the section 11 and the ap 12 are provided with side cut outs 15 forming leg openings 16 when the garment is-folded as ,in Fig. 1.
YSuitable strips secured to iihe body portion of the garment provide belt slides 17 through which may be inserted a removable strap 18 to. secure the garment. about the Waist of the wearer.
The blank will be folded at the shoulders and the side edges will then be sewed from the arms to the lower end ofthe forward sections thus providing a garment having a bodyv provided with arms and with an eX- tension or flap which will be brought up in front and fastened by means of the buttons 19. After the fiap has been fastened, the belt will be passed around the waist and fastened and the garment. will remain in place until removed. When necessary, the- Hap can be released and lowered without removing the garment and could then be easily put back in place. This garmentcould beworn over the ordinary strect dress when .n
taking a small child to a park or public play ground and when. in place would protect the -street dress from getting soiled when the child is playing upo the ground. Upon leaving the play-ground, the romper would be removed andthe street dress would be clean. A very serviceable garment has thus been provided for infants and small children.
What is claimed ist* A garment of the character described l comprising a blank providing a forward section, a rearward section and an' intermediate section connecting said forward and rearward sections and provided with a head opening; said blank heilig folded transtion.therchetween to provide semi-circular cut outs, the free transverse edge of said flap being detachably secured to said for-l ward section.
In testimony whereof I -atiix my signatureA in presence of two witnesses NELLIE t". MOORE.
