To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALFRED R. BARRAGKS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Decatur, in the county of Macon and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toilet-Article Containers,

of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to receptacles of that type used for toilet articles, such as small paste jars, powder boxes, and the like and has for its object'to provide a kit or toilet case which may be cheaply constructed; which will be attractive in appearance; which will beof such make up as that it will retain its shape and serviceability after continued use; which is ofsuch construction as that, when opened, the contents are readily accessible for use or replenishment; and which may be shipped in flat or knocked down condition from factory to distributer.

In the drawings herewith is illustrated one embodiment of the invention and that the best now known to us, and in said drawingsz- Figure 1 is a top plan vlew of the toilet case.

Fig. 2 is a side view of the case shown in Fig. 1.

Fig. 3 is a plan view of the blank from which the case is formed.

Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing the case open, toilet articles being indicated in dotted lines.

Figs. 5 and 6 are detail sectional views to show the wall supporting means.

Fig. 7 is a view similar to Fig. 3, showing a single piece blank.

In the drawings the same reference characters refer to like parts in the several views.

The receptacle will be formed of a substantially cruciform blank as, for example, the blank shown in Fig. 3, this blank comprising the body portion 10 having wings to form side flaps 11 and end flaps 12, as shown. The blank may be formed as shown in Fig. 3, in which construction the end flaps 12 are formed separately and stitched or otherwise secured, as at 13, to the body portion 10, or they may be formed as shown in Fig. 7, of a single piece of material so cut as to give the proper size and disposition of end and side flaps, i

The blank thus formed will be slitted or perforated in the flap sections, to form strap receiving loops 14, as clearly indicated in Figs. 3 and 7 and the end flaps 11 will be provided with suitable fasteners, as, for example, the snap fasteners 15, the stud members of which will be carried by one end flap 11 and the socket members will be mounted on the other end flap 11, as shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 7.

. It will be observed hat the loops 14 are formed in the flaps adjacent the body porthe kit. The strap 16 encircles the recep- V tacle or kit lengthwise, and is threaded through the loops 14, struck out from those portions of the blank which are designed to form the vertical walls of the receptacle. The strap 16 will, preferably, although not necessarily, be secured at one end as at 17 to the side wall of the blank, and the free end, after being threaded through the loops, and bringing the walls to a set-up position, will be secured, by a suitable fastening means, as for example, the snap fastener 18, to the opposite end of the strap. The said strap 16 will reinforce and hold up the flexi ble walls of the receptacle, so as to do away with the necessity of stitching or otherwise securing together the corners of the blank formed by the meeting edges of the vertical or side walls and dispense with wall stiffening and strengthening means, so that the operations necessary tomake up and complete the article are very simple and the necessity for complicated stitching or fastening and stifi'ening o perations for the corners and walls are entirely done away with.

The strap 16, when the receptacle is set up, will effectively hold the receptacle in shape with the side walls snugly together and the flaps free to turn so as to open the kit as shown in Fig. 4. If it should be desired to make the straps adjustable so as to compensate for stretching after continued use, there may be pro Vided a plurality of stud members 19 as shown in Fig. 6, so that adjustment is provided for.

A kit constructed in accordance with this invention may be made of light stock and quickly assembled and brought to its final form, for it will be seen that the forn'iation of the blank of which the receptacle is made is a simple stamping operation; that the fastening devices may be readily applied; and that the Wall supporting or securing means, namely, the straps 16, can be very quickly and conveniently assembled so as to give a box-like structure with the free opening side and end flaps conveniently snapped together and so disposed as that the contents of the receptacle can be readily procured.

1. A receptacle of the class described formed of a single substantially cruciform blank to give a bottom, side and end Walls, and cover flaps therefor; strap-receiving loops struck out of the Wall sections adjacent the bottom section; a strap secured at one end to a Wall section and having its free end threaded through the loops in the Wall sections, so as to encircle the receptacle and maintain the Walls in upright position With the cover flaps folded over the top of the receptacle; and detachable means fastening the free end of the strap to a Wall section.

2. A receptacle of the class described formed of a single substantially cruciform blank to give a bottom, side and end Walls,

and cover flaps therefor; strap-receiving" loops struck out of the Wall sections adjacent the bottom section; a strap secured at one end to a Wall section and having its free end threaded through the loops in the Wall sections, so as to encircle the receptacle and maintain the Walls in upright position with the cover flap folded over the top of the receptacle; and detachable and adjustable means fastening the free end of the strap to a Wall section.
