STALL CONNECTION OR THE LIKE.
APPLICATION FILED MAY 28. 1911.
UNITEDSTATES PATENTOFFICE.
or cnmm rants, Iowa, A GORZPORATIONIOF Iowa. e
To all whomit may concern: Be it known that I, CHARLES is a description.
My invention belongs to thatgeneral class, of devices known as couplings, and relates particularly to a devicefor connecting 101' coupling together the stall and partitionsg employed in barn equipment. The inven-r.
tion has among its obj ects the plroductionof a device of the kind described particularly among its objects theproduction of a device for; rigidly and securely coupling or connecting the 'stall parts and partition members in a simple and convenient manner, and will also permit Width between the stalls to bemade as desired. The parts are also constructed and connected together, that in case of there being columns .or posts in the barn, in or proximate the line of stalls, the same will not in any way interfere with the installation of the equip ment. Many other objects and advantages of the construction herewith shown and described will be obvious to those skilled in the art from the disclosure herein given.
To this end my invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described,
and more particularly pointed out in the a claim.
In the drawings, wherein like reference characters indicate like-or corresponding parts, a
Figure 1 is a view in elevation of a'plurality of stalls and partitions illustrating the application of the device;
Fig- 2 is a sectional view taken substantially on line 22 of Fig. 1, and i Fig. 3 is a sectional View taken substan tially on line 33 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawings,'1're'presents any suitable style of stall construction, head frame, or the like, mounted upon the curb 2, or itsequivalent, in any satisfactory manner, and carrying the stanchions 3. The particular stall construction shown is merely to illustrate the application of my improved connection, and the stanchions represent any M. Srnvini SON, a citizen of the United States, residing? at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain I new and useful Improvementsin Stall Connections-or'the like,'of which the following i at is simple, i convenient, durable, eificientand satisfactory for use wherever found "applicable. It has rality; of suitable clamping or coupling memsTnLI. coivrrnorron on.

My construction is not: only in- .tendedfto couple the stall head frames together, butalso to carry astallpartition. In this connection it would ordinarily be diiiicult in the usual constructions to arrange the partitionlif this shouldhappen to come op posite a post oncolumn similarfto 1. In carrying out the invention, Iprovide a plu- Games M. surnvnivson, or socmomatmals; nssrenoaj'roiowa are: conranv,

bers together with a suitable cross-bar or (pipe, which ibar connects the stall frames supports the front end of. the partition. 1 Referringparticularlyto Figs. 2 3116.?34.
it may. be mentioned I that I prefer to make all of the couplings similar, so that they may be interchanged regardless of whether the same is used to couple the short bar to one of the stall heads onto the partition. lilachclarnpingv member 5 is provided with a clamping part6, broken or cut away at and securely clamping the parts on the pi e.
Each bracket is also provided with a simi ar clamping part 9, flanged as at 1010, and
arranged to be secured together by a screw or bolt 11. As: shown, the openings through 6 and 9 extend at an angle to each other. A pipe or .bar 12 of the desired size and length is also provided.
In assembling the connection or coupling for the frames and partition, a part 5 is the parts extending rearwardly. The pipe or bar 12, ca'rrying'a similar clamp 5, is then secured in the clamping part 9 of each clamp 5 on the frames with the part 9 of clamped to each stall head or frame 1, as mosttclearly shown in Fig. 1, with one of 1O in the line of the head-'1, it willbe noted similar or interchangeable, and as before mentioned, the pipe or bar 12 may be the desired length, this depending upon the distance the stanchion heads or'frames are to be from each other. The clamp carrying the partition 14 maybe arranged at the desired point, this permitting the onestall to be wider or narrower than the ad acent stall. .In case a column or post at is arranged, for example substantially as shown that the device' clears the same, so that it is not necessary to remove the column or move the stall frames to provide clearance. Obviously, if the clearance with the stralght vbar is'not sufficient, the bar or pipe 12 may be bent as indicated at 12' by the dotted lines. In some cases the partition bar and clamp might not be used, but only the crossbar and clamps for securing the same in.
lace. In this case the stall frames would e rigidly secured together and post clear ance be provided. The device is exceedingly simple and convenient to install, and is economical in .cost. It maybe mentioned that it is not likely to in anyway injurethe stock and presents an attractive appearance.
Having thus described my invention, it
is obvious that various immaterial modifications may be made in the same without departing from the spirit of my invention;
hence I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the exact form, construcandmeans for clamping a partition bar to the same intermediate said first mentioned clamping means, each of said clamping means comprising a body part having an opening therethrough and split at one side thereof, means for drawing the parts at said split side together whereby the same is secured to a cooperating part, said body part having a similarly formed opening at the o posite end at an angle to the first opening w ereby two parts ma be secured to ether at]: substantially a rig t angle in di erent p 2Y1? 1n testimony whereof, I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
