Jr., a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and ,useful,Improvements in Suction and Pressure Creating Apparatus, of`which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in suction and one of the objects of the saine is to provide an improved apparatus of this character for creating a suction in a chamber or passage and which apparatus also operates to create a pressure.
A further obj ect is to provide an improved apparatus of this character having means whereby the 'enforced circulation of a liquid will cause or create a suction or vacuum in a Chamber or passage. l
To the attainment of these ends and the accomplishment of other new and useful objects as will appear, the invention consists in the fea-tures of novelty in substantially the construction, combination and arrangement of the several parts hereinafter-more fully described .and claimed and'shown in the accompanying drawing illustrating this invention, andin which:

Referring more particularly to the draw-- ing, the numeral 10 designates generally a tank or receptacle within whichaksupport 11 is rotated by means ofa suitable shaft 12. This support 11 is preferably hollow and is provided with a plurality of outlets'opening through its periphery. The outlets are preferablyin the form 4of nozzles 13 discharging substantially at a tangent and having an inlet 14 within.' the support. If desiredthe nozzle 13 maybe reduced as at 15, intermediate' its ends. The `suppoit is provided with a depending tubular portion 16 having an inlet 17 which`is submerged within the liquid 18 inthe of radially disposed `arms or tubular passages 19 located within the hollow support 11. These arms y or passages 19 may be of any desired configuration or shape and are provided with reduced extremities 20 which terminate adpressure creating apparatus andv 'f will be entrained around the outside of the .or members 19 -are once tank and com-4 jacent the inlets 11 of the respective. nozzles 13 to discharge thereinto and the'exterior diameter of the arms 19 is considerably less than the diameter of the nozzle, so that when the liquid is discharged from the arms or tubular members 19 by centrifugal force during the rotation of the support 11, and which support rotates above the liquid 18, a suction will be created in the hollow support and through the nozzle 13 to entrain iiuid therethrough anddischargc the saine into the tank 10 with the liquid discharged from the arms 19. When thus discharged the uncondensed fiuid will rise in the tank whilethe liquid will be precipitated. Arranged witliin the hollow support 11 and above'the arms 19 is a partition 21,which cooperates with the wall of the support to form a chamber above the arms 19 and the partition 21 the periphery of the support; The chamber 22thus formed within the support has com* munication with a depending tubular portion 2 3 which extends through the tubular portion 16 of the support and is of a diam eter considerably smaller than the passage 16. This tubular portion 23 is journaled in a suitable bearing 24 and has communication with a passage 25 exterior of thc tank or receptacle 10 and in which passage it is desired to create a suction, so that when a suction is created in the chamber 22 by the discharge of the liquid by centrifugal force through the arms 19 into the nozzle, the fluid in the chamber 22 and passages 23, 25 through the nozzle. In order to prime the arms 19 to initially fill the pipes or arms 19 with the liquid 18, suitable wings or blades 26'are arranged in the tubular entrance 16 of the support 11 and passage 23.
Thus -it willbe seen that when the arms primed by the aid of the bladesor wings 26, the liquid will be thrown outof the 'arms 19 by centrifugal force and a sti'ong suction will be created in the-chamber 22 and passages 23, 25, when the support 11 is rotated. Y
What is claimed as new is 1. An apparatusof the character described embodying a rotatable .support having a Huid passage therethrough, a nozzle at the outlet .of said passage, there being a liquid passage `through the support'the inlet of which latter rotation of the support, said liquid passage preferably terminatesv short of passage is adjacent the axis of embodying a laterally extended tubular portion terminating adjacent and discharging into the nozzle to create a suction in the uid passage when the support is rotated, and means for ro'tating the support whereby centrifugal force will cause .the liquid to be discharged through the said tubular portion of the liquid passage.

An apparatus of the character described embodying a rotatable support having a fluid passage therethrough, a nozzle at the discharge outlet of said passage, there being a liquid passage through the support the in-l let of which latter passage is adjacent the axis of rotation of the support, said liquid passage embodying an extended radial pfortion terminating adjacent and discharging into the said nozzle, the diameter of the outlet of the said radial portion being less than the diameter of the inlet of lthe nozzle, means for rotating the support whereby centrifugal force will vcause the liquid to be discharged through the said radial portion of the liquid passage, and means for initially.

An apparatus of the character described Y embodying a rotatable -hollow support embodying spaced members of comparativelyl large diameter, discharge nozzles communicating with the` interior of ther support and opening through the peripherythereof, said support having an inlet and constituting with the nozzles a fluid passage through the support, saidnozzles being reducedin diameter intermediate their ends, a tank having liquid therein and in which tank the said nozzles rotate above the liquid, there being a liquid passage through the support separate from the said Huid passage, said liquid passage having a submerged inlet and embodying radially disposedtubular portions terminating adjacent and discharging into the respective nozzles, for creating a suction in the fluid passage through thel nozzles when the support is'rotated, means for rotating 'the support to cause the liquid to flow through the said tubular portions by centrifugal force, andmeans adjacent the inlet of the liquid passage for initially linducing a circulation of the liquid through the latter.

An apparatus of the character described v embodying a hollow rotatable support h aving one or more outlet passages` opemng through its periphery, said support having a liquid inlet, a tank within which the support rotates, said tank having liquid therein and in which liquid the entrance of the said inlet is submerged, one or more hollow radial arms'carried by the support and having coinmunication with. the said inlet of the support, the extremities of said arms terminating adjacent the respective outlets of Said support, there being a Huid inlet to the supi port for a Huid different from the said liquid, and means for rotating the support and arms whereby the liquid in the tank ;will be delivered through the arms by centrifugal force to be discharged through the respec tive outlets of the support to create asuction through the said Huid inlet.

An apparatus of Vthe character described embodying a hollow rotatable support having one or moreoutlet passages opening through its periphery, said support having a liquid inlet, a tank within whlch the support rotates, said tank having liquid therein and in which liquid the entrance of the said inlet is submerged, one or more hollow .radial arms carried by the support and having communication with the said inlet of the support, the extremities otsaid arms terminatingadjacent the respectlve outlets of said support, there being a fluid inlet to the support for a fluid diiferent from the said liquid, and means for rotating the support and arms whereby the liquid in thetank will be delivered through the arms by centrifugal force to he discharged through the respective outlets of the support to create a suction through the said Huid inlet, tl` e said fluid in-A let extending through the said liquid inlet lout of communication therewith and being p ing one or more outlet passages opening i through its periphery, said support having a liquid inlet, a tank within which the support rotates, said tank having liquid therein and in which liquid the entrance of the said inlet is submerged', one or more hollow radial arms carried by the support and having communication with Vthe said inlet of the support, the extremities of said arms terminating adjacent the respective outlets. of said support, there being a fluid inlet to the support for a fluid diferent from the said liquid, means for rotating the support and arms whereby the liquid in the tank will be delivered through the 'arms by centrifugal force to be dischargedthrough the respective outlets of the-support to create a suction through they said fluid inlet, and means adjacent the entrance of the said liquid inlet for initially inducing circulation of the liquid through the liquid passage.
