Description

J. JACUCIS.
STOVE.
APPLICATION man NOV.8. I911.

. STOVE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 29, 1919.
Application filed November 8, 1917. Serial No. 200,942.
To all whom it may concern: Be it knownthat I, J ANAS JAooors, a c1t1- zen of Russia, and a resident of East Ohicago, in the county of Lake and State of Indiana, have invented a new and Improved Stove, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to stoves and particularly to what are known as stoves or ranges, and has for an object to provide means wherein the fuel may be inserted from the end of the stove if desired.
Another object of the invention is to provide a stove with an end door arranged with means for preventing the clogging of the grate adjacent the door.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a side view of stove embodying the invention.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section through the stove shown in Fig. 1.
Referring to the accompanying drawings by numerals, 1 indicates a base provided with legs 2, said base being formed so as to receive the lower extension 3 of the casing or frame 4 of the stove as shown in Fig. 2. The stove is provided with walls 5 forming an oven, which walls together with the top 6, end 7 and bottom 8 produce passageways 9, 10 and 11 whereby the smoke, hot gases, and the like from the fire chamber 12 may pass around the oven 5 through the discharge opening 13, which opening communicates with the upper discharge member 14. Passageway 9 is in free communication with the upper discharge member 14, but when the oven is being used the sliding damper 15 is movable to a position in front of the discharge member 14 so that the smoke and other products of combustion from the fire chamber 12 must pass around the oven and out through the passageway 13. When the oven is not in use the damper may be moved to the position shown in Fig. 2, or to a larger open position if desired, so that the smoke may pass directly into the discharge member 14 and from thence into the chimney to which the stove is connected. A cleanout door 16 is provided at the end of passage- Gopiel of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the way 11, said clcanout door being held in position by any suitable means, as for instance the catch 17. This door is in horizontal alinement with the lower front door 18 whereby when said lower front door is open and the ash pan 19 is removed access will be had freely to the passageway 11 for cleaning the same, or for repairs.
Above the door 18 is an upper front door 35 which swings on its pintle 36 in a vertical plane and is adapted to be opened at any time, as for instance when supplying fuel to the fire chamber 12. A catch 37 is provided, pivotally mounted on the door and provided with a handle 38 at one end and an interlocking lug 39 at the opposite end.
Lug 39 is adapted to fit into a recess 40 in V the top 6 of the stove as shown in Fig. 2, when the door is closed. When it is desired to open the door handle 38 is grasped and merely pulled, which will cause the plug 38 to become disengaged and the door to move to an open position.
As shown in Fig. 2 a pivotally mounted protecting plate 35 is connected with door 35, said plate overhanging part of this grate. This protecting plate acts as means for guiding the fuel to the grate and also as means for protecting or covering the pivotal mounting of the grate so that none of the fuel can wedge in between the grate and thereby prevent a proper operation of the respective grate members.
What I claim is:
In a stove of the character described a smoke discharge member, a fire chamber in communication with the smoke discharge member, a grate arranged at the bottom of said fire chamber, a door arranged in one side of the fire chamber extending longitudinally of the grate, and a pivotally mounted protecting plate connected with said door and normally overhanging part of said grate.
his JANAS X JACUCIS.
