To all whom it may concern.' l V Be it known that I, JoANNEs PIAT, a citizen of the French Republic, residing -at Lyon, in France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Carbureter- Nozzles, of which the following isvasp'ecification.
This invention relates to improvements in nozzles for carbureters of explosion motors, offering certain important advantages, espe-^ cially that of allowing the mathematical regulation of all deliveries of carburants, and that by means of any suitable drivinggear, placed within reach of the driver.
The accompanying drawing illustrates the invention.
Figure 1 is a vertical'section of the device drawn to an enlarged scale.

The nozzle is essentially composed of two concentric tubes a and b, of which a is rigidly mounted in the body c of the nozzle `and b can be rotated around a by means of a traction device connected to the end of a lever d, mounted at its base and which is displaceable in a recess e provided on part of the circumference of the body c.

The inner tube is also closed at the top by a head a1 which has a small opening a2 similar to that of the tube b and curved to an equal radius, so that the openings coincide when the jet is to work at full feed position illustrated in Fig. 4.
This arrangement of openings of equal curvature and width throughout the whole of their length renders possible an admission or interception of fuel always strictly corresponding to the extent of displacement of the outer tube, by reason of regular progressive enlargement or reduction of the opening produced by this displacement. The regulation ofthe supply of fuel'is obtained by varying e the position of the curved opening b2 1in relation to the curved i opening of the tube a, which is effected through the lgreaterfor lesser displacement tube b, by means of the lever al. The operation of this lever is obtained by means of a suitable actuating means for instance, by means of a Bowden cable, one end of which is connected to the lever at f, while `the other is fastened to the driving-gear placed Within reach of the drivers hand. Accordingly as a greater or less degree of traction is exercised at the end of the cable it will move the lever d forward in a corresponding manner, which by displacing the tube b will then more orless screen the opening a2 until it completely closes it, as shown successively by the Figs. 5 and 6.
A tension-spring g constantly tends to bring the tube b back to the position for the maximum` admission of fuel.
The nozzle is provided with means for regulating the extent of the displacement of lever d, which consists of a screw (see Fig. 3) carrying a cam z', which will serve as outermost abutment to the lever and which the driver adjusts in position beforehand.
This adjustment is effected by locking the cam in the position selected, by means of a nut; it can be further augmented by the possibility of mounting` the screw of the cam in other wormed holes, for instance 7' orj1 provided for this purpose in the mounting plate ofthe nozzle.l
The advantages realized by the improved nozzle are essentially as follows 1. Almost instantaneous regulation of the carburation, by the ease with which the driver can pass through all the stages of supply of fuel, his car still going.
2. The best degree of opening of the nozzle being found, the certainty with which the driver reverts to it without any trial, by reason of the abutment of the actuating lever. against the fixed cam;
