To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CYRIL HENRY WHITE,
a subject of the King of England, residing in No. 9 Park Road, Coventry, Warwickshire, England, have invented a certain new and useful Process for the Recovery of Brass from Foundry-Ash and the like, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a process for recovering brass from foundry ash and the like which remains in pouring pots and crucibles after the brass has been poured therefrom.
According to this invention the said ash is heated to between 1050 G. and 1250 C. and stirred or kneaded While at that temgerature. The ash can be heated in a crucile or suitable furnace, and at a temperature over 1050 C. the mass becomes soft; and when stirred or kneaded the liquid brass agglomerates and collects so that it can be poured into molds. The stirring or kneading should be continued so long as the met-at continues to collect. It is desirable to use one or more of the ordinary fluxes such as bora-X, g1ass, soda ash, or the like, so these form a fusible slag with the impurities, and

What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A process for recovering brass from foundry ash and the like which remains in pouring pots and crucibles after tie brass has been poured therefrom, consisting in heating the Said ash to between 1050 and 1250 C. and stirring or kneading the molten mass.
