This invention relates to a new construction of well-tube with the obj ect of reducing the expense and difficulty of manufacturingthe same. The invention consists in making the tube of cast or malleable cast-iron with projecting ribs and perforated, and in soldering over its perforated sides wire-gauze of the desired grade, so that, when the perforations are sufficiently large, the change from coarser to finer gauze, or vice versa, will fit the tube to serve as strainer in all manner of material.
A in the drawing represents a section of'. the
well-tube made with projecting ribs a a at the outer side, and with perforations b b between the ribs. Wire-gauze d, of the desired fineness, is placed over the apertures b, and secured in place by solder or other means. A tube thus made can be entirely cast and need not be handled or finished after casting, except to receive the screw-thread at the ends for connection with other sections of tube, or
with the point B, and to also receive the wirel
