Be it known that I, REINER W. ERDLE, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, who have declared my intention of becoming a citizen of the United States, and now residing in Weehawken, inthe county of Hudv son and State of New Jersey, have invented terminal ball of a ball-chain of the char-i acter lgenerally employed `to operate electric pu l switches for electric lights and the like. It,is particularly intended to be employed as a self-luminous pendant for such pull chains, to enable the user to conveniently find them in the. dark, anditis this adaptation of the invention whichlis illustrated in the accompanying'drawings. It is an object of the invention to providev a. neat, symmetrical, cheap and reliably secure selfluminous pendant which may be conveniently attached to a pull-chain by hand and without recourse to mechanical tools.

Fig. 1 showing the chain link in section on the planeB--Sv and turns as a swivel on the inner cap and is secured thereon by bending its lower margin or skirt around the skirt of the inner cap with a clearance between the outer cap and glass bulb sufficient to permit free turning of the outer cap. To permit the skirt cap has been turned halfway around from position of suchregister its mouth is nearly covered by the overlapping dome of the outer capwhile the mouth of the louter cap is likewise nearly closed by the underlying dome of the inner cap, ywhich innerdome may be slit Jas-at 11 to make it sufiiciently elastic to spring outward and occupythe mouth of the "outer cap, and to do this more effectively the wall ofthe inner dome may be offset as 'at 18 along airidge approximating the outlineof the mouth of the'outer cap. i

In attaching the self-luminous pendant, its outer cap is turned so as to open the ballreceiving mouths of both caps, the terminal ball ofthe chain is inserted, vand the outer cap is then turned halfway around until the spring wall of the inner cap snapsyfplation of the inventive idea and the scope of the following claims:

1. In combination with a container fory self-luminous material, a cap therefor operative to attach the container to an enlargement on the end of a pull-chain and comprising two superposed relatively movable members each having an orifice of suflicient size to receive the enlargement and arranged so that in one relative position of the melnbers the orifices register and permit the enlargement to be inserted through both orices,I and in other relative positions the members mutually close their said orifices sufficiently to prevent the escape of the enlargement.

2. A device for attachment to a spherelike object such as the terminal ball of a ballchain for electric pull-switches, comprising twe sheet members pvotally secured tomovement relative to each othery and havingy ball-receiving orifices which open suiiiciently to receive the terminal ball' or like object when said members vare inone relative position andwhichclose suiiiciently to retain the said object when said members are in another relative position, and a snap catch adapted to hold the said members in their said relative position which retains the ob-,

4. A device for attachment toa spherelike object such vas the terminal ball of a ball-chain Jfor electric pull-switches, comprising two sheet members pivotally secured together for relative angular movement and having ball-receiving orifices eccentric to the pivotal aXis of the members and arranged so that said members will mutually open their -said'orifices suiiciently to receive the said sphere-like object when the members are in one rrelative angular position and will mutually close their said orifices suiiiciently to retain said object when the members are in another relative angular position, and one of said sheet members being adapted to spring into the orifice of the other member when the members assume their said relative angular position which retains the object.

5. A pendant fori attachment to ball chains comprising a tubular member, a dome-shell connected with the upper end of the tubular member and having an aperture adapted to admit the terminal ball of the chain, and an outer dome-shell swiveled on the first said shell and also having a ball receiving aperture, both of said apertures beingreccentric to the swiveling aXis of the outer shell so that in. oneangular position the outer shell will open both apertures sufficiently to admit the chain ball but inits reverse angular position `will close said apertures suihciently to retain the ball. open both apertures sucientlyto. admit ,the chain ball but in its reverse angular position will close said apertures sufliciently to retain the ball,and the inner shell being adapted to spring into the aperture of the outer shell when the outer shell is'turned into ball ree taining position. t

7. In combinationwith` aA container for self-luminous. material, a cap therefor operative to lattach the container to an enlargement on the end of 'a pull-chain and vcomprising .two sheet members pivotally secured together and.l eachhavingan orifice of suiit' cient size to receivethe enlargement and 'eccentric to the pivotal aXis of the members and extending acrossfrthe pivotal axis, the orificesbeing so arranged as to registerwin one relative angular positioni of the members.
