To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES J. U. BLOM- BERG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bridgewater, in the county of Mo- Cook and State of South Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Lights, of which the fol lowing is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to certain improvements in curtain lights and has relation more particularly to a device of this general character especially designed and adapted for use in connection with the curtains of vehicles and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved device of this general character which may be readily applied to or removed from a curtain as the occasions of practice may necessitate.

It is also an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved light which may be readily replaced or repaired witha minimum cost of material and labor.

The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved curtain light whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.

In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

As is particularly illustrated in Figs. 1 to 4 inclusive C denotes a curtain of the type adapted to be employed in connection with a motor driven vehicle or the like and which has produced therein an opening 1 herein disclosed as of rectangular formation with the major axes horizontally disposed. Ar-

ranged around the opening 1 and secured to the outer face of the curtain C is a reinforcing strip 2. The strip 2 is arranged a slight distance away from the opening 1 so that the light L may overlie the marginal portion of the opening 1. The strip 2 is of a thickness substantially equal to the thickness of disposed a removable pintle 6.

Overlying the strip 2 and of a width to overlie the marginal portions of the panels 3 of the light L are the holding members and the adjacent ends of the horizontally disposed members 7 are provided with the interlocking knuckles 8 through which the pintle 6 is also directed. Disposed through the members 7, the strip 2, and the curtain 1 are the screws '9 which are in threaded engagement with the holding strips 10 overlying the inner face of the curtain at the marginal portions thereof defining the opening 2. By this arrangement it is thought to be self-evident that the members 7 and 10 in conjunction with the screws 9 afford a convenient and effective means for clamping the light L in applied position. In the event either of the panels 3 of the light L should become broken or otherwise unfit for use it is only necessary to remove the pintle 6 and certain of the members 7 and 9 and the panel 3 can be readily removed and a new one substituted therefor.

In practice it is preferred that the various metallic parts of my improved light construction be formed from aluminum although I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself in this respect.

In the embodiment of my invention as illustrated in Fig. 5 1 6 f pllfitluotion is sub? stantially the same as disclosed in Figs. 1 to l; inclusive except that the strips et are horizontally directed and that a plurality of separable panels 3 are arranged above and below the strips I". It is also to be noted in this embodiment of the invention that the members 7 are only two in number as the horizontally disposed portions and the vertically arranged portions of the strips are integrally connected.

The form of invention illustrated in Fig. 6 has the members 4 arranged in the same manner as the strips 4 in Fig 5 while the strips 7 are arranged in substantially the same manner as the strips 7 in the first embodiment of my invention. In this form of invention it is also to be noted that a single panel 3* is arranged above and below the strips 43.

In the form of invention particularly illustrated in Fig. 7 the structure is somewhat similar to that disclosed in Fig. 1 except that three panels 8 are disclosed arranged in horizontal alinement with the strips P connecting the adjacent marginal portions of the panels 3. It is also to be noted that the horizontally disposed and vertically disposed portions of the strips 7 coacting with the end panels 3 are integrally connected.

From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that a curtain light constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to 4.

the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.

I claim:

1. In combination with a vehicle curtain having an opening therethrough, a light adapted to overlie the opening of the curtain, said lightcomprising a plurality of separable panels, strips engaged with adjacent ma-rginal portions of the panels, said strips being provided with interlocking knuckles, a pintle disposed through said knuckles, and means for holding the light in applied position over the opening in the curtain.

2. In combination with a vehicle curtain having an opening therethrough, a light adapted to overlie the opening 01": the curtain, said light comprising a plurality of separable panels, strips engaged with adjacent marginal portions of the panels, said strips being provided with interlocking knuckles, a pintle disposed through said knuckles, and means for holding the light in applied position over the opening in the curtain, said means comprising holding strips secured to the curtain, certain of said strips being provided with interlocking knuckles through which the pintle is also adapted to be disposed.
