-which forms or frames the material may [be placed in ya wet and semi-plastic condition and allowed to set and harden. It is the general object of the invention to provide a frame or form which is adapted not only for the ordinary flat wall construction but which poesses great flexibility, whereby it may be used, with a minimum of alterations and additions, for various jobs incidental to building and other constructions. The invention contemplates the use of a unit (having a pair of posts, an interposed plate, and clamping devices for. securing the plate to the posts) which unit is particularly svell adapted for simple flat-wall con-struction or simple arch construction. In addition to this unit (which in broad aspect is set forth in my application No. 704,472 filed June 19, 1912) the invention herein contemplates the employment of cooperating features of construction whereby the corneis of walls mayA be conveniently and economically constructed. Further and more limited objects of the invention will appear hereinafter in connection with the detailed description and will be set forth, in the essential combinations of elements, in the claims hereto annexed.

Describing by reference characters the various par-ts illustrated herein 1, 1 denote the outer faces of -hollow metallic posts and 2 the interposed removable plate of one of the units referred to hereinbefore. The

The details of this metallic protection will be described hereinafter. The later-al edges of the plate aretlius protected by the channel iron, and the plate is adapted to be inv sert/ed between the sides of the posts, which post-s are preferably of channeled metal having the web 1 presented outwardly (or away from the work) and the inclined sides 1" coperating with the lateral edges of the plates to prov-ide an increasing clearance between such edges and such lateral opposed sides as the plate is moved outwardly, or away from the work. At their inner ends the sides 1b are turned outwardly, as shown at 1c, forming a surfaceagainst which the 95 channeled edges 4 of the plates may rest when the latter are clamped in place, makf ing a tight joint through which the concrete cannot leak. A plate 1d extends across and closes the space between the flanges 1, being 100 secured thereto in any suitable manner.'
Cooperating with each pair of posts 1 and the interposed plate or plates 2 is a ranger 15 which may be secured to the posts-and associated therewith and which serves to posit-ion and, in effect, to assemble the posts in proper relation to receive therebetween the molding plate.
For the purpose of securing the plates between the posts, I prefer to employ clamps of .the character illustrated Ain Figs. 1, and.

Each of these clamps comprises a U- shaped yoke having the inwardlypro'ecting legs 5 and the connecting web 6. -T e legs are adapted to engage the channels 4 at the edges of adjacent plates 2 andthereby to force such plate edges against their seats Aupon the posts. The bolt is shown in detail .in Figs. v2 4and 3 and is conveniently constructed from two metal plates 10, 10 lriveted' together. At their inner ends, these plates are rounded and bent outwardly, as shown at 11, to form a head. Intermediate of `their ends, the :plates are provided with outwardly pressed tongues 12 constitutingba head `,of -less width than the head formed the .projections 11. At its outer c nd, the bolt formed by the plates 10 is provided with a slot 13 which is adapted to receive a wedge vkey 14. The :head 11 is of greater diameter than the central ypart 8 of the .key-hole slot while the lhead 12 is of Aless diameter than lsuch central opening. In assembling, it Iwill be necessary to insert the lbolts `before the plate l1d is applied to the'post. The operation will .now4 be apparent, especially in connec- =tionwith Figs. 2 and 3, wherein the yoke and bolt are shown in the positions which they occupy when the parts are locked inplace by the'yoke, thekey 1'4 being driven into the slot 13-so as to hold the ends of the yoke legs in engagement with the channeled tenons 4 and lthe bolt having been moved into one of the kretained in place in central position by the engagement ofthe head 11 with the opposite sides'of the central opening 8. The distance between `the heads 11 and 12 is such that, when the head 11 is in engagement with the `at rig t angles to the positions shown Ain'F-igs.

Where used in ordinary wall or archY construction, the ranger will extend in this form across a pai-r of `posts and `the interposed metal plate, being lprovided in its inner surface with lnotches 17 which are adapted fto receive therewithin the louter faces of the said posts, thereby conveniently to position the rangers with reference kto the posts and .prevent lateral movement betweentheposts and the ranger.v For connecting the ranger to the posts, I may use a bolt v18similar to thebolts 10--13 hereinbefore described, except that .but one head (thesmallerone) will be necessary in ordinary .wall or arch construction,

On the left side of Fig. 1 my form is shown as applied to a wall corner and for this purpose each side of the form' is shown as comprising a pair of units with the interposed corner molding members, with such modifications of the rangers as will adapt them for use in lconnection with the said members.v The corner molding construction comprises a pair of plate members 40 each having one lateral edge extending in proximity to and preferably forming a cover for the inner face of the unit post which ispadjacent to the corner; the opposite lateral edge of each of these plate members overlaps the outer lateral edge of the adjacent member of a metallic corner section, the first-mentioned plate member constituting adjustable bridges between the unit posts and the ,corner section, Which will now be described, vwith particular reference to the inside vcorner construction. 41 denotes a pair of plate members preferably cast or formed integrally with each other and ar-' ranged at the desired angle to constitute an angle section adapted for the particular wall corners to be molded. The channel 4 extends around the tenon 3 and the plate 2g. The lining plate 2El may be secured in place by spot welding to the flanges 2f. This construction insures eiiicient protection for the plate will be assumed to be in a vertical position, in which case the lateral. or sidev edges will be provided with shoulders or tenons and the top and bottom edges with the protecting plate 2b., I do not propose, however, to be limited by such convenient descriptive language to the use of these plates only in the construction of vertical walls, such limitation being contrary to the spirit of the invention, and especially to the ceiling or arch construction disclosed hereinbefore.
From the foregoing description, taken with the drawings, it will be evident that I have produced a concrete form which is extremely flexible, and that` in most uses of the form, I am enabled to employ a unit consisting of a pair of posts with a mold plate adapted to be inserted and clamped therebetween in various adjusted postions along said posts, with rangers connected with the posts whereby they are retained in assembled and properly alined positions, and that I am able to employ with such units suitable 'corner extensions whereby the form may be conveniently adapted for forming corner portions of walls; also to provide such unit construction with such extensions as will adapt it for use with ceiling or arch molding, including the inclosure and piro-j tection of beams; and further that I ain obvious that such details may be departed from more or lesswithout affecting the spirit of my invention; and I therefore do not propose to be limited to such details except as they may be positively included 4in the claims hereto annexed or their inythe corner range'rmay -be connected.
2. In a form of the character described, the combination of a pair of units comprising each a pair of posts, a plate removably and adjustably' connectible therebetween, a corner ranger comprising two members forming an angle with each other, a ranger member connectible to the posts of each unit and adjustably connected to the adjacent member of the corner ranger, and a corner plate to which the corner ranger may be connected.

In a form of the character described, the combination of a pair of yunits each comprising a pair of posts and a plate adjustably connectible therebetween, a plate member extending from one of the posts of'each unit, a corner section comprising a pair of angularly disposed plate members adapted to overlap the adjacent lateral edges of the iirst mentioned plate members, and means section comprising a pair ofangularly disposed plate members having the outer edges in overlapping relation to the edges of the iirst .mentioned plate members, and means for adjustably connecting said units and said late members.

In a form of the character described, the combination of a pair of units each comprising a pair of posts and a plate adapted to be adjustably connected therebetween, means for vmaintaining said units at an angle with respect to each other, said means comprising a cornertranger the branches whereof are connectible to the adjacent unit posts, a corner section comprising la pair of angularly disposed plate members, means for connecting the corner ranger to said corner section, and plate members adjustably con-A nected to the members ofthe corner section and adapted to eXtend between the same and the adjacent unit posts, the corner section being provided with posts, and means for connecting the corner ranger to the lastmentioned posts. v

In a -orm'of the character described, the combination of a unit comprising a pair of posts and a plate removably and adjustably connectible therebetween, a plate member projecting from one of said posts and adapted to 'form an. extension of the unit plate, a second plate member adjustably connectible to the first mentioned platel member, a post carried by one of said plate members, and an extensible and collapsible ranger connected-to said posts.
15."v In a form of the character described, the combination of a plurality of posts, plates insertible therebetween and adapted to provide jointly a support for concrete material, means for connecting said plates tothe post b y means readily disconnected whereby the molding surface provided thereby is extensible and collapsible, an ex# tensible and collapsible ranger, and means forA connecting the same to said posts.
16.-In a form of the character described, the combination of a pair of posts. a plate insertible therebebetween, means coperating with said osts for securing said plate thereto, a longltudinally extensible and coll ber the branches 'whereofl are adapted to exlapsible ranger, and means for connecting the same to said posts.
17. In a form of the character described,
the combination of a pair of posts, a plate insertible and removable between said posts, said plate having tenons or shoulders projecting from its opposed lateral edges, channeled membersi inclosing said tenons Aor shoulders and clamping means associated with said posts and adapted to engage said channeled members.
18. The combination of a pair of posts each having a lateral seat, a plate having its lateral edge provided with an outwardly 4projecting shoulder or tenon the inner faces .of said shoulders or tenons being adapted to engage said seats, and clamping means cooperating with each post to engage the outer surface of the shoulders or tenons at the adjacent lateral edge of the plate.
19. In a form of the character described, the combination of a pair of posts the opposed faces whereof are inclined inwardly and toward eachother, a plate adapted to be interposed between said posts and having at each lateral edge a shoulder coperating with the inclined surface of a post thereby to provide an'increasing clearance between said shoulders and the opposed faces of the posts as the plate is moved outwardly, and clamping means coperatingwwith each post and adapted to engage the adjacent shoulder on the plate.
20. In a form of the character described, the combination of a pair of posts each having a lateral seat, sai'd seatsl facing .eachother, Va plate adapted to be interposed between said posts and to coperate with said seats and having a tenon or shoulder at each lateral edge, a channel-shaped metal coverv ing for each of said shoulders, and clamping means coperating with each -post and adaptedto engage the vadjacent tenon or shoulder.
21. In a form of the character described the combination of a hollow' metallic post having a plurality of keV-hole slots therein, a clamping device comprising a forked memtend on opposite sides of the post, a bolt having` a pair of longitudinally spaced heads located within said post, one of said heads being of greater diameter than the enlarged portion of the key-hole slot 4and theother head being of smaller diameter than the enlarged portion of said slot, saidbolt being adapted to extend through the web of said forked member and being provided with a slot. a wedge key adapted tov be driven through the slot in said bar and mold plates supported thereby.
22. In `a form of the character described,
the combination of a post, a forked clamping member coperating with said post,
means for securing said'member to said post with its legs or branches on opposite sides thereof, mold plates'supported thereby and means whereby said member may be secured to the post in another position with the ends o f the legs or branches bearing against the outer surface of said post.
23. In a form of the character described, thecombination of a post, mold plates on each side thereof, a forked clamping member adapted to be applied to said post with its "legs or branches straddling the same, a bolt projecting through said post and connected to said clamping member, and meansv whereby said bolt may anchor the clamping member to the post with the legs straddling the same and engaging the adjacent mold plates and may in another position secure the clamping member to the post with the ends of the forks or legs resting against the outer surface of the post.
24. In a form of the character described, the combination of a hollow metal post having an opening, mold plates coperating with said post, a forked clamping member4 adapted to be applied to said post with its legs or branchesstraddling the same, a bolt projecting through said post opening and connected to said clamping member, means whereby it may be secured to the post with its outer end projecting at varying distances plates therebetween, a ranger coperating therewith and comprising telescopically connected sections, means for connecting said ranger sections in various adjusted posi` 'tions thereof, and means for clamping said l ranger sections to said posts.
In a form of the character described. the combination of a pair of posts, a ranger section connected to one of said posts and comprising a. channeled memberhaving a wooden filling block therein, and a coperating ranger section telescopically connected to the adjacent end. of the first mentioned ranger section, the second ranger section vcomprising a metallic channel shaped member, means extending through the filler block of the first ymentioned section and connecting the same to one of said posts, a bolt connected with the other post and extendingl through the second ranger section between the flanges thereof, a saddle covering the open space between the flanges of the second section-and having an aperture for the bolt, and a wedge key driven through the outer endv of said bolt and bearing against the saddle.
- 28. In a form of the character described, the combination of a plurality of posts, a mold plate extending therebetween, a ranger section comprising a channeled member having a lwooden filling block therein, and a bolt connecting the ranger section to the post and extending through the filling block. 29. In a form of the character described,
' the combination of an angular post having branches, mold plates having lateral edges adapted to substantially abut against the opposite sides of both branches of said post,
and an angular clamp applied to the angular portion of each post and adapted to engage said plates.
30. A mold plate for forms of the character set forth having its opposed lateral edges provided each with a tenon or shoulder, a lining plate applied to the inner face of the said' mold plate, a plate insertible between each lateral edge of the lining plate and the mold plate body and having an extension adapted to overlap one of the faces of the tenon, a pair of metallic plates covering respectively the top and the bottom ofthe mold plate and each having a flange insertible between the top and bottom 4edges of the lining plate and the corresponding portions of the mold plate and each having extensions covering respectively the tops4 'and bottoms of theshoulde-rs or tenons, and a metallic'channel which is adapted tobe appliedto each shoulder .or tenon and to receive therewithin the lateral extensions of the third mentioned lates.
31. A mold plate or forms of the character set forth having its opposed lateral edges provided' with shoulders or tenons and each shoulder or tenon having a notch at the top and bottom thereof, a metallic covering plate'for the top and bottom of the mold plate, each of said metallic plates having a depending flange at its inner edge and having at each end thereof an extension 'adapted to cover and protect the corresponding tenon or shoulder and each extension having an angular projection adapted to enter the corresponding recess of the tenon j. or shoulder, a metallicl plate applied to the inner face of the mold plate adjacent to each lateral edge thereof and having an'extension projecting alongside of the adjacent face of the tenon, a metallic lining plate for the inner` surface of the'mold platehaving its lateral edges overhanging the inner edges of the last described plates, land a channel member for each tenon or lshoulder and adapted to receive therewithin thel angular extensions of the top and bottom plates and the tenon-covering extension of'one of the third mentioned plates.
32. A mold platefor forms of the character set forth having its-"lateral edges provided with shoulders or" tenons and provided with a metal covering for the inner face and for the top and bottom edges thereof and with a metal covering foi` the -with the lplates to hold the plates in engagement wit the projections'upon the posts.
