Within the shell are the spring elements 120 and the friction elements 21. The friction elements comprise the sets of friction plates 21- and 22 arranged at either side of the shell at its forward end. Each set of friction plates comprises the alternately arranged stationary plates 24; and the movable plates 25. The statlonary plates 24 are provided at their upper and lower ends with the rotruding portions or lugs 26 which are a apted to enter the recesses 27-1-27 provided in the upper and-lower portions, respectively,of the shell to p revent the longitudinal movementof the said plates whileg a-jlatera'l movement therein.
