CONNECTOR.
APPLICATION FILED MAY 12. 1,920.

UNITED sra'ras PATENT OFFICE.
HOWARD ELLSWORTH PARSON, OF CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA.
CONNECTOR.
Application filed May 12,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HOWARD Ennswonrn PARSON, a subject of King George of Britain, and residing at Calgary, in the Province of Alberta and the Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Connector, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in a connector the object of which is to provide a means of easily and inexpensively connecting a pipe to the drain outlet of a container, more particularly adapted for use in connection with an oil circulator on an automobile of the Ford type. i
I attain these objects by the device illus trated in the accompanaying drawings, in which- Figure l, is a vertical section through the device as it will appear when assembled.
2, is a detail view of the connector ring which conveys the oil away from the container. Fig. 3, is a vertical cross section through the hollow screw plug. F 4:, is a view of the cap screen, and Fig. 5, is a vertical elevation of the hollow screw plug shown in section in Fig. 3.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
An oil container (4, is provided with a hollow drain plug 6, of special type so as to act as a holder for an internally grooved ring connection 0. This plug 7), consists of a hollow surface with a plain surface 70, around which the connector 0, is secured, a threaded portion Z, which is screwed into the base of the container a, and a smaller diameter portion m, which projects into the oil chamber a, and is covered with a screen cap 9. Holes e, are provided in the sides Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 6, 1921.
1920. Serial No. 380,920.
of the said smaller portion, allowing the passage of oil from the container a, into the central orifice (Z, in the said plug 5. Orifices f, are provided in the lower end of the said plug which are in relation to an annular groove h, in the ring connection 0, so as to allow the passage of oil from the central orifice (Z, through the said holes 7", into the annular groove k, and along the pipe *5, to the desired point of delivery. The ring connector being placed around the base of the plug Z), in the form of a washer, and having an outlet pipe 2', connected thereto. Detritus matter is retained in the container bythe cap screen g, which entirely covers the end of the plug Z), and the side orifices 6.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is The combination with an oil container of a plug, screwed into the base thereof and projecting therein, having a central hollow cavity and orifices in the side walls within the container, a cap screen covering the open end of the said plug and also the orifices on the side walls within the container, a ring connector around the said plug, held in place between the base of the oil container and the base of the plug, outside the container, and provided with an interior annular groove, orifices in the lower end of the plug opening into said groove, and a pipe connection on the periphery of the said ring connector communicating with said groove, all substantially as described.
HOWARD ELLSWORTH PARSON.
