MIRROR AND COMB HOLDER FOR HATS.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that l, GUs'rAv PESZTERNAK, citizen of Hungary, residing at Trenton, in the county of Mercer and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mirror and Comb Holders for Hats, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a comb and mirror holder adapted to be carried in the users hat, and it has for an object to provide a novel and simple device of this kind which can be readily carried inside an ordinary hat without interfering with the wearing thereof, and which can be readily removed when desired.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the follow ing description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

Figure 1 of the drawings is a vertical sectional view of a hat, showing the improved comb and mirror holder carried therein.

Fig. 2 is an enlarged face view of the holder with parts broken out into longitudinal section, and showing a comb in position therein.

Fig. 3 is an end view of the holder, with a comb and mirror in position therein.

My improved comb and mirror holder is preferably made of cloth, felt or other flexible fabric which is doubled upon itself to form the rear wall 10 and the front wall 11 of the holder, which is of generally rectangular shape as seen in face view.

The rear wall element 10 of the holder is formed at the corners with integral lugs 12 to which may be secured the female elements 13 of snap fasteners of ordinary construction, suitable complementary male elements being fixed in the hat to be engaged by the female elements to secure the holder in the hat. The front wall element 11 is secured at both sides and one end to the rear element 10 by stitching or otherwise, leaving the opposite end open for insertion and removal of the mirror and comb.

otherwise secured to the rear wall element along the line 14 between the side edges thereof, dividing the holder into two pockets or receptacles 15 and 16 respectively the former of which is shown as containing a mirror 17 and the other a comb 18. To secure the mirror against displacement the open end of the pocket 15 has extending thei'eacross a flap 19 carried by the rear wall element and secured by a snap fastener 20 to the front wall element 14.

To secure the comb 18 in place I preferably provide a catch 21 slidable in the closed end of the holder and adapted to engage over the end tooth of the comb. As here shown this catch is mounted on a narrow plate 22 fixed in the end of the holder, the catch being fixed on a stud 23 extending outwardly through a slot 24 formed in the plate 22 and the adjacent end wall of the holder, this stud having a thumb piece 25 on its outer end, the thumb piece 25 and catch 21 presenting flat surfaces lying in sliding contact with their adjacent parts.

In Fig. 1 of the drawings I have shown my improved holder as mounted on the inside of the crown of a hat 30 of ordinary type, when it can be carried without interfering with the wearing of the hat and from which it can be readily removed when desired by releasing the snap fasteners.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is as follows 1. in a holder of the type described, means providing a pocket adapted to hold a comb, and a slidable catch in said holder adapted to engage the end tooth of the comb to hold the same against displacement from said pocket.

2. in a holder of the type described, means providing a pocket adapted to hold a comb, the closed endof said pocket presenting a relatively short slot, a catch in said pocket slidable on said closed end, a stud on which said catch is fixed projecting through said slot, and a thumb piece on the projecting end of said stud.
