APPLICATION FILED MAR. 12. IBM).

IN VEN TOR UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
RAZOR-HONE HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 8, 1921.
Application filed March 12, 1919. Serial No. 282,157.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANK J. MInooN, citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco. in the county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented a new and useful Razor-Hone Holder, of which the following is a specification in such full and clear terms as will enable those skilled in the art to construct and use the same.
This invention relates to a device for holding a razor hone an object of which is to provide means for firmly holding a hone on a convenient stand so that the hone can be horizontal or at an angle, thereby enabling the razor to be honed with greater facility.
Other objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in which the same reference numeral is applied to the same portion throughout, but I am aware that there may be modifications thereof.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the holder with a hone in position,
Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the holder with a hone in position, and
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the holder.
The numeral 1 represents a. horizontally extending base having an upwardly extending post to which the movable portion of the holder is secured. The numeral 2 indicates a pair of depending plates which are secured to the top of the post by means of a bolt 3, said bolt having wing nuts l% on its ends. The upper ends of the plates 2 are bent laterally and have depending ears 2 and 2". The ears 2 and 2 have screws 7 extending therethrough, said screws have right and left hand threads as indicated at F which pass through depending ears 6 and 6 of the two clamp plates 6 which rest upon the top of the out turned ends of the plates 2.
The clamp plates 6 work in the slotted ends of two blocks 10 and 11 upon which blocks the razor hone 5 is placed when the razor is to be sharpened.
In practice the hone is secured in the clamps by the operation of the screws 7. The hone is then turned to the most convenient position for use. In order to hold the upper ends of the plates 2 in a fixed position, a screw 12 is threaded into said plates above the base standard.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is as fol lows:
A Whetstone holder comprising the combination of a base having a rigid post, of a pair of supporting plates, each plate having a laterally extending portion with two depending flanges, a bolt for securing the two plates to the post, a screw for holding the plates at a fixed distance from one another at their upper portions, two clamp members supported by each plate, and screws passing through the depending flanges for holding the clamp members in place and for drawing them together upon an object.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 6th day of March, A. D. 1919.
