e it known that I, KARL HALM, a citizen f the United States, residing at Los An geles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toy Cradle-Bed Wagons, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to toys arranged to form either a cradle, bed or wagon. It is the object of the invention to provide a simple construction of this character which is arranged to be readily knocked down and reassembled.

The invention will be readily understood from the following description of the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the assembled toy formed as a bed.

Fig. 2 is an end View of the toy formed as a cradle.

Fig. 3 is an end view of the toy formed as a wagon.

Fig. 5 is a perspective view of one of the end panels thereof.

The toy comprises corner posts 1 and 2 at the respective ends of the toy. The pairs of corner posts 1 and 2 at the respective sides of the toy are connected by side panels 3 and by supporting rails 4 spaced beneath said side panels. The base or the toy comprises a slat 5 arranged to extend the length of the toy medially thereof, this slat having cross bars 6 pivoted thereto, as shown at 7. The pivots 7 are, preferably arranged midway of the length of bars 6, and the ends of said bars are under-cut, as shown at 8, to provide tongues arranged to extend into the spaces between side panels 3 and the side rails 4. The ends of the toy are shown as comprising end panels 9 secured to cross rails 10 which are also provided with undercut lips 11 adapted to be received in the spaces between the side panels and the side rails of the construction. The upper and lower ends of the corner posts 1 and 2 are provided with grooves 12 extending across the ends of said posts, the grooves at the upper ends of corner post being arranged to receive cross rails 13 and the grooves at the lower ends of the post being arranged to receive either cross rails 14, upon the ends of which wheels 15 are rot-atably mounted as perspective view of the base Specification of Letters Patent.

The construction as thus described is arranged in its knocked down condition to comprise the side members formed of a set of corner posts 1 and 2, and a connecting panel 3 and a connecting rail 4, the end panels 9 of the construction connected to the cross rails 10, the base of the construction comprising the cross rails 6 pivoted to the bar 5, and the cross rails 13, rockers l7, and cross rails 14 provided with the wheels 15.

When it is desired to assemble the toy as a bed the side members of the construction are spaced apart by the end members, the ends of cross rail 10 being received in the spaces between side panels 3 and side rails 4, and the base or" the construction is then inserted between the side members, the ends of bar 5 resting against the end members for holding the latter against displacement toward one another and the cross rails 6 being turned relative to the bar 5 until their ends are re ceived within the spaces between the side panels and side rails of the side members. Cross rails 13 are then inserted in the ends of the corner post-s for connecting the corner posts 1 and 2 respectively. By this arrangement a bed construction is provided which is locked against disassembly by the base of the construction.

When it is desired to disassemble the parts, it is only necessary to remove cross rails 13, turn cross rails 6 upon their pivots 7, so as to be disengaged from the side members for permitting removal of the base of the construction, and the end members may then .Je removed from the side members by turning cross rails 10, so as to disengage the same ifrom the side members.

When it is desired to convert the bed as thus formed into a cradle it is only necessary to connect the corner posts 1 and 2 respectively by the rockers 17. And when it is desired to convert the bed construction into a. wagon, the cross rails 14 are inserted in the grooves at the lower ends of the corner posts for connecting the corner posts 1 and 2 re spectively.

Thus it will be seen I provide a simplified construction for a knock-down toy adapted to be readily converted into either a bed, cradle or wagon.

It will be apparent that various changes may be made in the construction as thus receive transversely exdescribed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

lVhat is claimed is:

1. A toy comprising a knock-down frame consisting of side members; end members removably connected to said side members; and a removable base comprising a bar extending lengthwise of said frame and removably resting upon said end members and cross bars pivoted to said bar and supported by said side members so that turning of said cross bars upon their pivots will disengage the same from said side members.

2. A toy comprising a knock-down frame consisting of side members having longitudinallv extending openings therethrough, end members lugs upon said end members received in said openings for removably positioning the end members relative to said side members, and a base engaged in said openings for removably' positioning said base.

3. A toy comprising a knock-down frame consisting of side members having longitudinalopenings therein; end members removably connected to said side members; and a base comprising a bar extending lengthwise of said frame and cross bars pivoted thereto, and arranged to be received in said openings for removably positioning said base.
