To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, ALBERT O. ROBERTS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the countyrof Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Condiment-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to ywhich it appertains to make and use the same.

The object of the invention isto provide a. relatively simple, and inexpensive construction of condiment holder provided with means whereby the contents may be readily agitated and forced through the perforations in a positive, regulated flow, the elements of the apparatus being so constructed as to facilitate the assembling thereof at a minimum expense to the manufacturer while insuring their relative stability; and with these objects in view the invention consists in a construction and combination of parts of which a preferred embodiment is shown in the accompanying drawings, wherein,

The device consists of a. cylindrical body portion or casing 10 to which is fitted a revoluble base 11 carrying an agitator and conveyer or ejector 12 of which the upper end is arranged in operative scraping relationV with a cap or cover 13 adapted to be removably fitted upon the body or casing ofthe holder as by means of a bayonet joint indicated in Figs. 1 and 2, or threads, or any equivalent thereof. The bayonet joint consists of the studs 14 adapted for engagement with slots 15 of which the former are carried byand project radially from the body or casing while the latter are forced in the flange 16 of the cap or cover. Said cap or cover is perforated as shown at 17 to permit of the discharge of the contents of the holder. l

The agitator and ejector is adapted to be struck from a single plate of sheet metal or equivalent material and consists of a flat body portion 18 provided at yits upper end with ejecting wings or planes 19 which are connected with the body portion 18 on obliquely disposed upwardly convergent lines 20 and which, occupy an angular position with respect to and extendin opposite directions from the plane of the body portion 18. The wings or planes 19 have arcuate outer edges 21 which conform to the side wall of the body or casing, and their upper edges are disposed in a common transverse plane for operating in close proximity to the under surface of the perforated top of the cap or cover 13. The wings or planes force the condiments through the perforations of the cap when the agitator and ejector is rotated. At its lower end the agitator and ejector is connected with the revoluble base 11 of the holder, and in the construction illustrated in Figs. 1 to 7 inclusive the body portion 18 is provided with flanges 22 perforated as indicated at 23 for engagement by rivets 24. extending through the bottom of the base 11 which is preferably provided with a supporting rim 25, and through an interior washer 26 a1*- ranged within the casing upon the upper side of the inturned flange 27 formed on the lower edge of the cylindrical wall of he casing. The washer 26 and fiange 27 revolubly secure the base 11 to the body or casing 10. The exterior surface of the upstanding flange portion 28 of the base is preferably milled or roughened as indicated to afford a. convenient grip for the hand of the operator in turning the agitator within the casing.

In the modified construction shown in Fig. 8 the body or casing 10 has its lower end inturned to form the flange 30 upon which rests an annular washer 31. The base l 32 is offset as at 33 by spinning or otherwise to engage the flange 3() and the washer 31, whereby to revolubly connect the base 32 to the body or casing 10. In this form of the invention, the lower end of the agitator and ejector, indicated by the reference character, 18, is provided with downwardly extending lugs 34 which pass p secure the agitator and ejector' to the base.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim is l. A condiment holder having a cylindrical casing, a removable perforated cap or cover and a revoluble base, and an agitator and ejector arranged within the casing and carried by the base, said agitator and ejector consisting of a plate disposed diametrically with its edges arranged adjacent to the side wall of the casing and provided at its upper end with inclined wings integral therewith and extending on opposite sides of the agitator and ejector and having their upper edges arranged in scrap-v ing relation with the under surface of the cap or cover. l

A contrivance for dispensing granular substances, having a cylindrical casing, a perforated Acap or cover and a revoluble base, and an agitator and ejector arranged within the casing and carried by the base, said agitator and ejector having upwardly directed obliquely disposed wings integral therewith and extending on opposite sides of the agitator and ejector and provided with arcuate outer edges'and horizontal upper edges disposed adjacent to the plane of the under surface of the cap or cover.
