Description

B. J. KIFFE.
PHoNoGRAPHlc RECORD AND TABLE. l APPLICATION FILED MAY I5, 1920.
lPatented Sept. 20, 1921.
'Lg.l.
INVENTOR ATTORNEY WITNESS:
:Balarm J. xIFFn', or MANxATo, MINNESOTA.
PHONOGRA'PHIC RECORD AND TABLE.
Application led May 15,
To all 'whom t may concern.'
Be it known t at I, BERTRAM J. KIFFE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mankato, in lthe county of Blue Earth and State of Minnesota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Phonographic Records and Tables, of which the following is a specification. v 1
This invention relates to a phonographic record and table therefor, the principal object of the invention being to provide means for facilitating the removal of the record from the table.
Another object of the invention is to render it unnecessary to touch that part of the record which contains recording grooves and making the record e'a'sy to handle.
This invention also consists in certain- 'turn table.
Fig. 3 is a Sectional view taken through theimproved turn table, with the improved record thereon.
In these views, 1- indicates the record which is ,of the usual disk type and is provided with the central hole 2, to receive the spindle 3 of the graphophone which projects above the turn table 4. In carrying out my invention I form a pair of holes 5 in the record, one on each side of hole 2 Specification of Letters Patent.
I several Patented Sept. 20, 1921.
1920. serial no. 381,604.
and spaced a suflicient distance apart so as to permit insertion of the thumb and forefinger of one hand;
In order to permit the thumb and finger to enter these holes when the record is on the turn table I provide a cup shaped recess 6 in the center of the table. This will space the bottom of the table from the record so as to permit the fingers to enter the openings or holes in said record, as clearly shown in Fig. 3. y
It will thus be seen that the record can be easily placed on the table and removed therefrom and without touching the grooved part of the record.l The records can be easily handled without danger of dropping` them, as will bev apparent.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features 0f my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of thev arts, provided that such changes fall wit in the scope of the appended claims. A
1. A record for graphophones having a pairof finger receiving holes adjacent its center.
2. A disk record for graphophones having a pair of openings formed therein, one on each side of the spindle receiving hole` and spaced apart a distance to'receive the finger and thumb of one hand.
3. A phonograph turn table having a recess formed-at its upper face adjacent' the center thereof and a record for engaging the table, said recordhaving a finger hole` formedtherein adjacent the center thereof. Intestimony whereof I aflix my signature.
