binations, constructions, and arrangementsy herein described and claimed An object of my invention is to provide an improvement over the electric fixture shown in my prior application for patent, filed Oct. 2, 1920, in which I disclosed an insulated stem comprising an insulating nipple having its upper end screwed into a;
coupling secured to a iXed support and carrying on its lower end a cap formed with a threaded centralopening adapted 'to receive the threaded end of a rod that carries atits lower end a. member suitable for connection with and for supporting a lighting fixture element, said improvement consistingA in the provision of an insulating member having a central bore adapted to receive an ordinary tubular member formed with a so-called running thread and having means vfor lim-- iting the movement of the tubular member withinpthe insulating nipple and -vfor maintaining the same in adjusted position therein.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the type described that comprises elements that can be assembled quickly and easily, wherefore the device can be properly installed with a minimum of time and effort.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the type described in which the number of component elements is reduced to a minimum. f
A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the type described that is effective for the purpose intended and thoroughly practical commercially.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specific-ation, and the novel features of the invention will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

In carrying outk my invention, I make use of a iXed support, such as a vgas .pipe l that depends from a ceiling 2. I provide a coupling 3 threaded interiorly at each end and formed with a transverse partition 4 inter-v mediate its length. The coupling 3 is screwed on the threaded lower end of the gas pipe 1.. A cylindrical insulating member 5 has its upper end threaded exteriorly `at 6 for engagement with the -coupling 3.
through transverse openings .14;v and V15y through the insulating member 5 adjacent the lower end thereof and throughthe tube 11, respectively,` thereby maintaining the tube 11 in a fixed adjusted position relative the .insulatingrmemberf and limiting the` movementfofthe tubev 11 upwardly in the threaded borel 10. It .is to be understood;
that `the threaded tube l1 is of the convert' tional form, .such as is commonly used in the installation and assembly of electric fixtures. The tube 11 is cut to a suitable length and the upper end thereof is secured in the bore 10 in the manner described.y A canopy 16'is then projected over the tube 11 until theupper end thereof abuts against the wall 2. A nut 17 screwing on the lower end ofthe tube 11 supports and maintains the canopy 16 in position.
The .canopy 16 is provided with a plurality of spaced apart openings 19 extending through its wall as shown, each being adapted to receive the tubular shank 2O of an eye member 21. The latter are held in adjusted position relative the` canopy by nuts 22 screwing on the threaded portions of the tubular Shanks 2O projecting within the canopy, a shoulder 23 being provided on each shank exterior of the canopy casing. Chains v24 engaging with the eye members 21 may be operatively connected with a chandelier or other lighting fixture member tubular Shanks 2O of the eye members 21 for engagement with the wires .(not shown). that are ordinarily installed in the ceiling 2.
From the foregoing description of the various parts of the device, the operation thereof 'may be readily understood. The device comprises relatively few parts and can therefore be assembled and installed with ,economy in time and labor. Since the insulating member 5 is adapted to receive an ordinary tube formed with Ja running thread, the length of the tube 11 maybe varied as required in each particular installation, since a desired length of the tube 11 is cut from standard lengths of this element of the device. Y
It will be observed that the nut 17 is formed with a hollow cap portion 18 adapted to be grasped by hand to permit convenient operation of the nut and into which the lower end of thetubular member -11 may extend,wherefore the length of the tubular member 11 may vary considerably without rendering the same unsuitable for the purpose intended.
I claim: f
1In an electric fixture of the character described, the combination of a fixed support, a cylindrical insulating member provided with a bore and having diametrivcally opposed Vopenings extending through its walls adjacent the lower endl of the insulating member, means for connecting said fixed support and said insulating member, a tubular member threaded exteriorly and having its upper end inserted a predetermined distance into the bore of said insulating member, said second named tubular member having diametrically opposed openings extending therethrough adjacent the upper end thereof, a pin projected through the openings in the walls of the insulating member and the openings through said sec- .ond named tubular member to determine the position of the latter lin said bore, and r walls adjacent to its lower end, means forY connecting said fixed support Vand said insulating member, a tubular member `threaded exteriorly and having the upper Vend thereof inserted apredetermined distance into the bore of said'insulating member,`
said tubular member having diametrically opposed openings extending through its walls adjacent to the upper end thereof, a pin projected through the openings in the walls of the insulating member and the opening throughsaid tubular member to determine the positionV of the latter in said bore, a canopy slidably mounted on the tubular supporting `member and provided with means for supporting a lighting fixture element, and a nut screwed on the end of the tubular ,supporting member for determining the positionV of the canopy relative to thel fixed support, said nut being formed with an integral hollow cap portion depending therebelow and arranged to receive'the depending end of the threaded tubular supporting member. t Y
