EMERY H. ABBUCKIJE, 0F CLEVELAND, OHIO.
ADJUSTABLE SINK.
Application tiled July 20,
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, EMERY H. ARBUCKLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga an State of Ohit'. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Sinks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to adjustable kitchen sinks and more particularly to an improved apparatus for adjustably supporting a sink and .drain board in a manner that will permit the sink and drain board to be raised or lowered as desired.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide adjustable brackets for the sink and drain-board which may be easily adjusted to place the sink and drain board at the desired height and which will include an arrangement whereby the spigot may be maintained in the desired position with* respect to the sink.
Other objects of the invention will appear upon consideration of the following ydetail description and accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the apparatus constructed in accordance with my invention showing the conventional form of sink in dotted lines mounted upon the apparatus.
Fig. 2 same.
Fig. 3 is a detail section through the connection between the drain board and sink.
is a vertical section through the Referring to the drawing by numerals, p
the main bracket structure 1 supports the sink 2 and this bracket includes the su porting plate 3 which extends longitu nally with respect to the bottom of the sink and has a transverse supporting 'arm 4 inteally formed with a vertical standard 5 the atter being provided withA laterally projecting lugs 6 arranged in vertical spaced relation. The lowermost lug 6 is provided with an opening through which the adjusting standard projects and the wall back of the sink is provided with a supportin lug or bearing 8 to receive the lower eng of the member 7. A square portion 9 is provided for convenient/l' receiving a wrench where- 7 may be turned. The upper end of the standard 7 above the upper lug is mounted in another lu 10 as shown 1n Fig. 2 and the standard is provided with screw threads 11 throughout a portion Specification of Letters latent.

of its length the uppermost lug 6 on the bracket being screw threaded to engage the screw threads on the standard as shown.
d The sink 2 is attached to the cross arm 4 by the lugs 12 and it will be obvious from this construction that when the standard or screw threaded rod 7 is turned, the bracket will be raised or lowered to raise or lower the sink.
The back panel 13 of the sink is provided with suitable openings to receive the spigot 14 and a special fitting 15 is provided to be connected to the water supply pipe 16. This fitting 15 includes a plurality of removable plugs 17 mounted in openings in the fitting which receives the supply of water from the pipe 16 so that when the spigot 14 is removed and the sink adjusted, the spigot 14 may be placed in any one of the openings from which a removable plug 17 has been removed.
Provision for making the adjustment in the drain pipe is shown in Fig. 1 and the upper end of the drain pipe 18 is tted with a telescoping pipe 19 which connects to the drain opening 20 in the sink, thus accommodating the sink to the drain pipe in a manner that will permit the adjustment as above stated.
An auxiliary supporting bracket 21 is provided for one or bothl endsof the sink in the event the sink is larger than could ordiarm 22 carried by the standard 23 which is rovided with lugs 23 attached to a vertical rod 24 whereby the lugs may be longitudinally mounted on the rod 24 and secured -in position by set screws.
The drain board 25 is supported by the drain board bracket 26 which includes the cross arm 27 and the supporting plate 28 mounted on a standard which is provided with a bracket 29 having a vertical rod 30 connected thereto, the latter being mounted in a bearing 31 whereby the vertical adjustment will be permitted.
In this manner it will be seen that the entire sink and drain board may be vertically adjusted to the desired height by simply placing a wrench on the square portion 9 and turning the standard 7.
Connection between the drain board 25 and the edge of the sink is made by a fastening plate 32 provided with screws33 which engage the marginal edges of the sink and cross arm, and provided with laterallyv projecting lugs, the uppermost lug being screw threaded, an adjusting rod provided with screw threads received in the screw threads in the said lug, the lower end of the said adjusting rod being provided with a support, and a square portion of the rod adapted to be engaged with a wrench whereby the said adjusting rod may be manually turned.
2. The combination with a sink, a bracket including a supporting plate and cross arm, a standard supporting the said plate and cross arm, and equipped with laterally projecting lugs, a vertically disposed adjusting rod engaged with the said lug, the said rod havin screw threads to meshwith the screw threac s in the lugs whereby the bracket may be vertically adjusted when the lug is turned, the upper portion of the sink being equipped with aspigot, a fitting connected wlth the source of water supply and having a plurality of openings equipped with plugs, the said plugs eing adapted to be removed whereby the spigot may be located in a position in the fitting with respect to the adjusted position of the said sink.
3. In combination with a sink and drain screw threads on one of the lugs on the sink bracket, means to turn the said adjusting rod, a supporting rod for the said drain board bracket, slidably mounted in the openings in the said lugs, and means to adjustably connect the sink to a drain pipe.
4. In combination with a sink, and drain board, a bracket supporting the sink, a second bracket to support the drain board, each of the said brackets bein provided with lugs arranged in pairs an having vertically alined openings, an adjusting rod mounted in the openings in the said sink bracket, the said rod having screw threads engaging screw threads in one of the lugs on the sink bracket, meansl to turn the said adjusting rod, a supporting rod for the said drain board bracket, slidaby mounted in the openings in the said lugs, and means to adjustably connect the sink to a drain pipe, the said sink having a water supply pipe, a spigot and a fitting attached to the water supply pipe and provided with a plurality of openings, each opening being e uipped with a removable plug whereby t e said spigot may be disposed in any one of thesaid openings in the fitting.
In testimony whereof, I have aixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
