Be it known that I, DAVID H.- WILSON, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at 6031 Trinity street, Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Stylus-Bar Mountings for l teproducers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to phonographs, and has special reference to reproducers for such instruments.

More particularly the invention relates to the stylus bar mounting for reproduoers and forms a division of my prior and copending application filed June 1, 1920, and bearing the serial number 385,800.

One important object of the invention is the provision of an improved arrangement of the needle holding parts of a phonograph reproducer.

A second important object of the invention is the provision of an improved adjustable elastic fulcrum for the stylus bar or needle lever of a phonograph reproducer.

With the above and other objects in View, as will be hereinafter apparent, the invention consists in general of certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described; illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically claimed.

Figure 1 is a side elevation showing the improved arrangement of needle holding parts as attached to a phonograph reproducer.

In the embodiment'herein shown there is disclosed a portion 19 of a reproducer casing and part of a diaphragm 14. Projecting from the casing 19 are spaced parts 22 which are connected at their outer ends by a bridge piece 23 having-a centrally disposed threaded aperture 24. Through this apertures passes a thumb screw 25 having a reduced end which engages in an opening in a bowed leaf spring 26 one end of which is fixed to a needle lever 27 while the other end slides freely thereon. On the under side of the lever is secured a cantaliver leaf spring 28 the free end of which lies beneath Serial No. 443,232.

Secured to the inner end of the lever, whlch overhes the center of the diaphragm 1%, 1s a screw 29 which passes through the dlaphragrn l4 and has nuts 30 on each side of said diaphragm to connect the lever and diaphragm 1n adjusted relation.

Thus by means of the thumb screw 25 the tension of the spring fulcrum may be varied at wlll and the action of the needle lever on the diaphragm properly adjusted as desired.

The needle lever is provided in the usual manner, with a needle receiving opening 31 and set screw 32 for holding needles therein.

There has thus been provided a simple and efficient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is 1. In a phonograph reproducer, a casing, a pair of posts extending outwardly from said casing, a bridge piece extending across the ends of said posts, a needle lever passing between said posts and beneath the bridge piece, a spring fulcrum for said lever bearing against said bridge piece and a leaf sprmg bearing on said lever and easing.

2. In a phonograph reproducer, a casing, a pair of posts extending outwardly from said casing, a bridge piece extending across the ends of said posts, a needle lever passing between said posts and beneath the bridge piece, a spring fulcrum for said lever bearing against said bridge piece, a leaf spring fixed to said lever and bearing against the casing beneath the fulcrum and means to adjust the tension of said spring fulcrum.

3. In a phonograph reproducer, a casing, a pair of posts extending outwardly from said casing, a bridge piece connecting the outer ends of said posts and provided with a centrally disposed threaded aperture, a needle lever passing between said posts and beneath said bridge piece, a spring between the needle lever and the casing and located between said posts, a second spring between the bridge piece and the needle lever, and a thumb screw passing through the threaded aperture and bearing against the second spring whereby to vary the tension on the second spring and thereby, the tension of the first spring.
